The title of this series is "Raising the Bar – Jesus on Right & Wrong". It is very pertinent to know that we collectively need to "raise the bar", because of mankind's insistence on lowering the standards. This leads to a direct confrontation with God in our dumbing down of His law, and His righteousness, in order to better fit into our lifestyles. Today, Teaching Pastor Jim Shaddix completes the opening message of the series. Tomorrow, he'll move into the life situations spelled out in Matthew, chapter five, and apply God's measuring stick to circumstances like murder, adultery, and divorce.
Marriage…. It is, and has been a foundational part of civilized cultures all over the world. But, in case you hadn’t yet heard, traditional marriage has become a very politicized subject, with many special interest groups attempting to push their definition of marriage.
In 2006, Pastor Jim, preached a series of messages on marriage entitled, “The Mystery of Marriage”. No, this was NOT a commentary on the current political quagmire, but instead, a biblical review of the origins and significance of marriage. Based in Ephesians, “The Mystery of Marriage” looks at God’s purposes for marriage, the roles and responsibilities for men and women in marriage, and finally, the impact of culture’s attempts to re-define marriage.
So, whether you’re a newlywed, a marriage veteran of many years, or you are just now contemplating marriage, you’ll benefit greatly in hearing this biblical blueprint for the realities and issues of marriage. Join us for “The Mystery of Marriage”.
