The Force, Part 1

August 26, 2016
There is a force - a powerful force - that can transform a discontented heart into a heart of contentment. Although we often do not take advantage of it, this force is called thankfulness. Thanksgiving is the doorway to God's presence. It hones the mind to focus on the Lord so prayer becomes so much more easy - it refocuses the distracted mind. Thankfulness is the doorway to peace.

If we are to champion the message of God's Grace, we must do it with stark honesty. We embrace, as we should, the message that we stand in God's Grace, we are saved by Grace, kept by Grace, and secured by Grace. Grace accepts us as is and takes on the job of making us more like Christ. But what about when you find yourself facing unspeakable loss and tragedy? What about when you are paralyzed with fear and overwhelmed with sadness? What about when you are powerless? When you beg God for the life of one you love so deeply - a love that He put in your heart - yet He seems distant and disconnected? This, my friends, is the other side of God.

Grace is not just a static quality, but it is an active quality as well, exercising moment by moment influence in the believer's life. Grace never is, never will be, and never was a license to sin. Grace is our provision from God not to sin.

If there was one all-encompassing principal to a Spirit-filled transformational life, that is always growing, and even though it is marked with defeat on every level, it always ends up in victory - what would that principal be? I believe we see it in this passage: the Lordship of Christ.

I encourage you to look beyond the surface of what you think you know, as we really only know what we experience. This great Gospel is packed with eternal objective truth, that is truth whether we believe it or not. And these same truths were given to become our subjective truth as well as our objective truth. My experience will always work from the inside out; religion tries to reverse it to the outside in.

About Tim Kelley

Tim Kelley, at the age of 18, surrendered his life and heart to Jesus Christ. After receiving his degree in Biblical Studies, he relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida. In July of 1989 he became the senior pastor of Grace Connection Church and launched a local radio broadcast called “Grace Thoughts”, a daily radio program broadcast in the Tampa Bay region http://wtis1110.com/ and is now heard at www.oneplace.com. Pastor Kelley is now in his 33th year in public ministry here in the Tampa Bay area. He is an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and the Boston Celtics. As you may have guessed, our pastor grew up in New England in the Plymouth Mass. area. Pastor Kelley’s two greatest and heartfelt passions are teaching and preaching a clear gospel of God’s grace and its impact in our daily lives, as well as his love and compassion for people (even if they are not New England Fans).  Pastor Kelley has a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies and is currently pursuing a second Masters in Counseling, graduating in May 2013.  He is happily married to his beautiful wife of 27 years, Peggy. They have one child at home, Sadie Lynne.  Their beautiful daughter Hannah Grace, in February 2012, went home to be with the Lord, due to a firearm mishap after a church service. Pastor Kelley and Peggy have started the Hannah Grace Foundation in memory of their daughter, which raises funds for the housing, care and education of children and young adults, here locally in the Tampa Bay region, throughout America as well as the third world.
