Tim Kelley

Soteriology, Part 2

February 8, 2024
Theology is simply the study of God. It studies His person, His nature and His work. Our spiritual and even mental health depends greatly on our theology. Because if we do not think clearly about Jesus - His character and nature - how can we relate to life and what life brings? How can I relate to my relationship with Him if deep down I am convinced He is out to get me? In this message Pastor Kelley shows us some of the most powerful truths to spiritual freedom.

Sublimation is defined as the channeling of impulses or energies regarded as unacceptable. We have an ability as people to re-direct our thoughts and impulses, keeping ourselves from unpleasant thoughts, deep issues, confronting realities and personal decisions. But there will come a day where we find ourselves no longer able to ignore the consistent knocking on the door of our mind by the Lord concerning eternal things. I believe the Lord is always knocking on the door of our hearts and minds to draw us into a relationship with Him that is so much more real and profound than it is at the present moment.

There is a decision we all must make if our Christian life will ever become a transforming, supernatural power in our life. This will include an honest and transparent evaluation of our deepest motives and pursuits - honesty! Do I want God to re-write my humanity? There is a "second conversion" which often does not take place in a believer's life. It is not a conversion to salvation, but to a radical biblical lifestyle that turns our souls upside down.

A vital principle: BIG Jesus = SMALL problems; SMALL Jesus = BIG problems. Life has a way of shrinking Jesus into the one I pursue to meet my needs. But when you are in His presence, you forget about your needs, and they get met! (Isaiah 6) Paul wrote from a dank prison "that the eyes of your understanding be enlightened." A big Jesus makes small lives big; a small Jesus keeps them small.

About Tim Kelley

Tim Kelley, at the age of 18, surrendered his life and heart to Jesus Christ. After receiving his degree in Biblical Studies, he relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida. In July of 1989 he became the senior pastor of Grace Connection Church and launched a local radio broadcast called “Grace Thoughts”, a daily radio program broadcast in the Tampa Bay region http://wtis1110.com/ and is now heard at www.oneplace.com. Pastor Kelley is now in his 33th year in public ministry here in the Tampa Bay area. He is an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and the Boston Celtics. As you may have guessed, our pastor grew up in New England in the Plymouth Mass. area. Pastor Kelley’s two greatest and heartfelt passions are teaching and preaching a clear gospel of God’s grace and its impact in our daily lives, as well as his love and compassion for people (even if they are not New England Fans).  Pastor Kelley has a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies and is currently pursuing a second Masters in Counseling, graduating in May 2013.  He is happily married to his beautiful wife of 27 years, Peggy. They have one child at home, Sadie Lynne.  Their beautiful daughter Hannah Grace, in February 2012, went home to be with the Lord, due to a firearm mishap after a church service. Pastor Kelley and Peggy have started the Hannah Grace Foundation in memory of their daughter, which raises funds for the housing, care and education of children and young adults, here locally in the Tampa Bay region, throughout America as well as the third world.
