A casual reader of the book of Joshua might be tempted to pass over chapters 12 and 13 very hurriedly, for to a cursory reading they contain merely the record of territories in Canaan, a list of names and places, some of which are hard to pronounce and harder still to understand. But when you slow yourself down and ask the Lord to reveal something in His book, it can be a great blessing as to what he will show you!

It forgives our sins, places us in right standing with the Lord himself, and imputes his own divine life through his Holy Spirit into us. He takes on the job of conforming us into His image. He adopts us into His family, and loves us with such an intimacy that it goes beyond our understanding. So - why does a life of victory escape more people than those who embrace it?

It forgives our sins, places us in right standing with the Lord himself, and imputes his own divine life through his Holy Spirit into us. He takes on the job of conforming us into His image. He adopts us into His family, and loves us with such an intimacy that it goes beyond our understanding. So - why does a life of victory escape more people than those who embrace it?

It is vitally important when we hear the Word of God being taught, or read, or studied - that we always hear it or read it through the lens of grace. The scriptural ideal of life is beyond man's ability to live it. Matthew 5:28-20 points to an impossible life. We cannot live life at this level; we need help, and we need GRACE.

On most occasions banquets were offered to close friends and family. It was not casual; there was great honor in throwing the banquet - and being invited to the banquet. The seeming worthy, the religious, acceptable and respected by men refused the invitation to feast with the King. The Host wants anyone who wants to be there to come! This is a parable of extravagent grace.

God is extravagant in His love, in His grace and in His mercy towards us. He will lay down His life for those who despise Him. He will go the extra mile. How we think is not how He thinks. God is not bound by race, culture or offense. His nature is to love, accept and affirm. It always has been - and always will be.
