Competing Paradigms, Part 2

November 23, 2023
Suppose your doctor just discovered you have a rare disease with only a year to live. No noticeable symptoms progressing - you would simply die. How would that change your life? How would it change the way you handle your money, your time, your priorities? How would it change your relationships? Your marriage? Your family? The fact is - it would change everything. When the rules change, our way of seeing is altered. There is a paradigm shift.

These CD's were never posted on the Website or made available to the general public until now. "Thinking with God" answers 2 distinct questions: What is God like and How does God Think? It is impossible for us, as believers, to think clearly in our Christian life without addressing these vital questions. Suffering is not paying for the consequences of sin. Often we bring "suffering" on ourselves as we go through the ramifications of our own behavior. Will God use that? Absolutely - God never wastes pain. But unjust suffering can come from within the church - from what I call "Biting Sheep." Sometimes sheep don't know they bite - but those bites still hurt.

As we conclude the "Digging Deeper" series on the spiritual disciplines, let me make a bold but true statement, You will not grow in your faith without these disciplines being implemented in your life.  How can we grow without prayer? How can we grow without regular intake of the Bible?  We might be functioning without these disciplines, but growth cannot happen without them being practiced in our lives.

Our salvation was never intended to be static. It is a force intended not only to take a sinner to heaven by giving them Christ's righteousness, but also to make him more like Christ now - in this life. We are stewards - not owners - of all that Christ has given us. When giving is seen as a discipline, there is a void when it is not practiced. The disciplines are designed to bring you to your full spiritual potential, which in turn will bring Christianity to the world.

The Bible is very clear about the need to pray - and the exhortation to do so. There is no clearer model or example of true Godly prayer than the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6. Emmet Fox said of this prayer, "Christ designed His prayer in such a way that it would pass safely through the ages without being tampered with. He arranged it with consummate skill so that it could not be twisted or distorted, or adapted to any man made system." Join us as we "Dig Deeper" into this prayer.

About Tim Kelley

Tim Kelley, at the age of 18, surrendered his life and heart to Jesus Christ. After receiving his degree in Biblical Studies, he relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida. In July of 1989 he became the senior pastor of Grace Connection Church and launched a local radio broadcast called “Grace Thoughts”, a daily radio program broadcast in the Tampa Bay region http://wtis1110.com/ and is now heard at www.oneplace.com. Pastor Kelley is now in his 33th year in public ministry here in the Tampa Bay area. He is an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and the Boston Celtics. As you may have guessed, our pastor grew up in New England in the Plymouth Mass. area. Pastor Kelley’s two greatest and heartfelt passions are teaching and preaching a clear gospel of God’s grace and its impact in our daily lives, as well as his love and compassion for people (even if they are not New England Fans).  Pastor Kelley has a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies and is currently pursuing a second Masters in Counseling, graduating in May 2013.  He is happily married to his beautiful wife of 27 years, Peggy. They have one child at home, Sadie Lynne.  Their beautiful daughter Hannah Grace, in February 2012, went home to be with the Lord, due to a firearm mishap after a church service. Pastor Kelley and Peggy have started the Hannah Grace Foundation in memory of their daughter, which raises funds for the housing, care and education of children and young adults, here locally in the Tampa Bay region, throughout America as well as the third world.
