Rich and Amy Fetterhoff from Homer, Alaska are the guests on this week’s Trail to Adventure!. Gerry and Cyndi stayed at their hotel, The Pioneer Inn, and discovered some interesting things about this family. Rich is involved with a ministry that actually ministers to missionaries and pastors in remote parts of Alaska, an area of the world that has more turnover than any other place. They also discuss the family’s love of the ocean and how they have worked together to build a boat that took two years of construction.

Gerry shares about a pleasant surprise in a visit to Dr. John Whitmore’s office (teaches geology and paleontology at Cedarville University) where he discovers Dr. Steve Austin is in John’s office. Dr. Steve is the author of Mt. St. Helen’s, a DVD that shows in great detail the sequence of catastrophic occurrences and how they debunk “old earth” geology. The two talk of how Dr. Steve, who used to be an “old earth” geologist, but now because of this volcanic eruption is a “young earth” geologist.

This weekend being the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, Gerry pulled this interview with Chuck Buck that aired in 2002. Chuck missed being on one of the planes that left out of Boston by one day as he flew home to California from that airport on September 10th. Chuck also shares the incredible story of how his dad’s hand was crushed in an industrial meat grinder. God miraculously healed his hand, otherwise the Buck Knife business would not be where it is today.

On a men’s river rafting retreat in Alaska, Gerry is joined by Dave Lameire who shares the story of how his daughter was kidnapped, raped and murdered. He had the chance to take justice into his own hands, but chose not to. He chose to honor God, and because of that decision, God is using him in a mighty way.

Gerry drops in to visit with Kelly Long in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Kelly shares about her battle with what she named “taxidermaphobia”, a fear of mounted animals hanging on the wall. Kelly struggled with this for most of her life, but shares how she has overcome this fear. Now, she actually uses a mounted deer head to teach children about fears and how God can bring us through.

Shaw Grigsby, the television host of the fishing program titled One More Cast, visits with Gerry at the Anglers Sports Association Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shaw shares about what one’s life is like on the bass fishing trail, and how really hard it is to be a pro angler. He also tells the story of how he came to Christ through hearing the testimony of pro fishing legend Hank Parker. Shaw relates to the listener that there is nothing that they can do that would keep Jesus Christ from allowing them to receive Him as their Lord and Savior. It is as simple as realizing you are a sinner, and having the faith to ask for forgiveness to begin a first-time relationship with the Creator God.

The CEO of Scorpyd Crossbows, Jim Kempf, shares with Gerry about how the business got started as the two tour the Coralville, Iowa factory. Jim shares how a back injury caused him to no longer be able to shoot his bow. He decided to put his innovative talents towards producing a silent crossbow that has limbs reversed from the standard design that one would see produced by other manufacturers. Jim gives credit for all his inventive talents to Jesus Christ.
