Keith and Cheryl Webb

April 23, 2012
This week’s interview is from Prince of Wales Island in the panhandle of Alaska. Gerry visits with Keith and Cheryl Webb. Keith is the pastor of the Coffman Cove Baptist Church. The couple tells the story of the years they have been working on the Blue Water Christian Youth Camp, a place where youth from the island and other communities on other islands in that part of Alaska can come for a week. The Webbs share how even in the building of the facility that they believe will be used by God to change lives, life-changing decisions have been made by those who have come to help with the construction.

This interview should be of incredible interest and importance to anyone who hunts from a tree stand. Keith Jones of Summit Tree Stands reflects on the changes in safety that have occurred in the tree stand industry. The effort is to reduce the number of hunters injured or killed, which is currently one out of every three who climb into the heights of the timber where they are hunting. Gerry and Keith give information to the listeners that they both hope will keep them from becoming one of these sad statistics.

Pro bass fisherman Mark Davis shares how the loss of his mom when he was a young boy, and his adventures in the outdoors, caused him to see that one day he could make a living as a fisherman. After nine years on the bass fishing circuit, he was looking at throwing in the towel because he never won the “big one”. It was at this point having been a Christian for a number of years he finally decided to turn his fishing over to Jesus Christ. That year he won Angler of the Year and the Bass Master Classic, something no one had ever done before.

Hank shares how things happen in our lives, the loss of loved ones, that we can’t always explain, might not even be able to understand completely until the day that we are in the presence of our Creator and Lord Jesus Christ.

They’re taking over the entire town, and no, this isn’t just some science fiction horror movie! Tim Griffiths shares with Gerry about the ministry of Shepherd’s Staff located in Rexford, Kansas. As businesses in this town struggle and have to close their doors, this ministry looks to purchase the buildings and turn them into facilities where churches, groups, and individuals can come for Christ-centered retreats. The ministry is also doing fall pheasant hunts to reach men and boys, and just beginning to see their spring turkey hunts take off as well.
