Dr. Tom Rakow, the founder of The Christian Deer Hunters Association, talks about his testimony which includes beginning to break the law by poaching his first deer when he was only 11 years old and things just got worse. Tom shares how a Billy Graham television program and his secret reading of the Bible brought him to a point where he knew he needed to pray and receive Jesus Christ as Savior. Tom also reveals that he is the now famous “Bear Tooth Pastor” and how he got that title.

Gerry joins Capt. Dan Keating on his charter boat that operates out on Lake Michigan, targeting king & silver salmon . Dan shares how he got started in the business many years ago and started to write books on catching salmon, that also moved into producing DVD’s. Over time, Dan started to include a Gospel message at the end of his books, DVD’s, and even on his website, and moved him to write his most recent book Angling Life subtitled A Fisherman Reflects on Success, Failure and the Ultimate Catch.

This week’s guest, Dave Lemaire, shares with Gerry about the men’s river rafting adventures he leads every summer down one of the king salmon rivers in Alaska. Dave looks back on how he got started working with men’s ministry, and the impact he saw it have in those who attended the very first outing he did for a church in Alaska. The men who joined together on that trip 6 months after the adventure could still remember everything that the speaker had said, and it was obvious to Dave that men in a men’s environment can be deeply ingrained with God’s Word.

The two look back on how they got started in the business together, including surviving the remodeling job on an old farmhouse despite the fact that neither of them had any abilities in this area. Gerry and the two Kents reflect on the outfitting business’ first guest, Ken Beck of Black Widow Bows, and how he has been an influence in all three of their lives.

Rich and Amy Fetterhoff from Homer, Alaska are the guests on this week’s Trail to Adventure!. Gerry and Cyndi stayed at their hotel, The Pioneer Inn, and discovered some interesting things about this family. Rich is involved with a ministry that actually ministers to missionaries and pastors in remote parts of Alaska, an area of the world that has more turnover than any other place. They also discuss the family’s love of the ocean and how they have worked together to build a boat that took two years of construction.

Gerry shares about a pleasant surprise in a visit to Dr. John Whitmore’s office (teaches geology and paleontology at Cedarville University) where he discovers Dr. Steve Austin is in John’s office. Dr. Steve is the author of Mt. St. Helen’s, a DVD that shows in great detail the sequence of catastrophic occurrences and how they debunk “old earth” geology. The two talk of how Dr. Steve, who used to be an “old earth” geologist, but now because of this volcanic eruption is a “young earth” geologist.
