The Worst Value on the Market

July 2, 2010
Is College Worth It? Believe it or not, college admission costs are on a steep rise despite the most severe recession (and deflationary numbers) since the 1940s! Add to that, the rising unemployment number for college graduates, and lower starting salaries. Then, 49% of those with college degrees are working jobs not requiring a college degree. Guys like John Stossel call college the most over-priced and under-valued product on the market today. Rational people are asking if there is a better way to get through college and into the calling God has for them. Woody Robertson from College Plus adds a vitally important piece to this puzzle, as families try to work through these issues during challenging economic times. College Plus has saved 1,000 students about $27,000,000 over the last few years with a unique approach geared to save families valuable time and money. If there was ever a time for families to "think out of the box" when it comes to higher education, IT IS NOW!

Celebrating the Shame? When ABC, NBC, and CNN put fallen governors on their news talk shows, we wonder if they are celebrating the shame or just laughing at them. Did Nixon get his own national talk show? What would an empire look like – culturally, politically, economically – if it were breaking down? Kevin Swanson is really trying to build something out of the rubble, as he dinks around with the remnants of the western empires and assorted republics.

The History of Tyranny Two Supreme Court decisions will affect the future differently. It seems that freedom of speech is being curtailed, at least if you represent a Christian group on a college campus. On the subject of tyranny, Kevin Swanson spends concerted time on this broadcast outlining the government’s control of health care in America. It was a slow but steady process that began around 1910. The tentacles of government wrap slowly around the masses, and they hardly know it. But what will we leave for our children and our grandchildren? It’s time right now to talk about an island of freedom that is already developing and will be crucial for all of us by the year 2025.

What the Bible Says about Sex Ed Parents across the country are up in arms over the sorts of things taught in grade schools and junior highs, labelled as "Sex Ed." Kevin Swanson points out that parental rights has been a losing battle in the courts (since the 1980s) for those who send their children to public schools. Should your children witness for Jesus in Sex Ed classes, or just opt out altogether while you give them an education rooted in the fear of God?

Interview: Voddie Baucham A virtual family reformation is sweeping the nation, but as most people know the foundation of the family occurs when a young man marries a young woman. But what happens when 70% of young men are not grown up by 30 years of age, up from 30% in 1970 (per Newsweek magazine)? The average marriage age is shifting significantly, and evangelicals and homeschooling families are facing many of the same problems as the rest of the culture. Kevin Swanson interviews Voddie Baucham, the author of a new book, "What He Must Be, If He Wants to Marry My Daughter."

Wholesome. . . Defecation So Miley Cyrus or Hannah Montana becomes the rage for 8-15 year old girls, as a pseudo-wholesome teen icon, even promoted by family-friendly Walmart. But what happens when the pop-cult machine exploits her along with millions of little girls that follow her with a soft-porn spread in Vanity Fair magazine? Just another Britney and Jamie Lynne in the making? These are the teen heroes that set the cultural standards for millions of little teenage girls. A whole lot of little girls want to look like and act like Miley. And then all the little teeny-bopper, Christian girls down at the local youth group seem to want to look like the rest of the girls, who want to look like and act like Miley Cyrus or Britney or Katy. To top it all off, don't forget that Britney, Miley, and Katy Perry come from nice "Christian" families. Kevin Swanson interacts with the culture in this segment of Generations.

What do you want to do to impact the world? Many people talk about making an impact on the world, but what is their aim? God's kingdom or congress? On this edition of Generations Radio, Kevin Swanson interviews Candice Watters on her new book "Get Married. What women can do to help it happen."

How Not to Ruin All of Your Relationships Families and churches are in trouble today because they cannot work through disagreement and conflict, they cannot resolve the one and the many (diversity of opinion and the unity of love!) So most of the world has just given up and settled on top-down tyrannical social systems. But there are still a few of us trying to work on functional family relationships and church relationships. Here, Kevin Swanson and Dave Buehner discuss how they have put up with each other for 10 years plus.

The Generational Vision Fades Basic to Marxism and the socialization of modern society is the destruction of both freedom AND a generational vision for it. With the Bush Daughter endorsing the Socialist Healthcare Bill and the Bush Wife endorsing Obama's Supreme Court pick, it's hard to say there's much of a family vision materializing here. Kevin Swanson points out that we are now in a massive generational revolution, that will include a throwing off of all principles upon which the nation was founded, and an endorsing of a progressive agenda. But not so for all of us. Here and there is an island of generational faithfulness, where the hearts of the fathers are actually turning back to the sons, and daughters to the fathers!!

Get Ready for the Big Domino Fall Economically speaking, Japan is a nation on the brink of extinction. The only nation in the world with a worse debt crisis is Zimbabwe. But who cares about Zimbabwe, when Japan is the 3rd largest economy in the world. Kevin Swanson reviews the crisis facing the new prime minister (who happens to be the fourth, in five years!) Japan may be one of the first global dominos, but it's a REALLY BIG DOMINO! The gods of the market tumbled, and the smooth-tongued wizards withdrew. . .

Decentralized Media The Federal Trade Commission is brainstorming ideas for salvaging the dying mass-media system. Self-publishing is up and the mega-publishing businesses are taking it in the gut. At one time, a heavily centralized media could control how the masses think and learn. But that's all changing now with the internet. But is it really that easy? What if the tyrants found ways to violate privacy, collect names of dissidents, and then regulate the living daylights out of the internet? Decentralization is coming, but maybe not before more efforts to tyrannize and centralize.
