The Deflationary Scheme

How Power Brokers Could Confiscate Private Property
Kevin Swanson plays the "If I were my evil nemesis" game, on this edition of Generation. Suppose somebody were interested in turning a free nation (like America, say), into a Marxist or a socialist country, what would they have to do? Put an entire economy under the control of the federal reserve system, and encourage as much debt as possibly by inflationary policies over about 80 years. Then in the ensuing depression, pull the deflationary rug out from under the enslaved debtors. Could it happen here? It's already happening. Brad Hamill joins Kevin Swanson in studio to give us a lesson in Economics 101 on this edition of Generations.

One More Way to Re-integrate the Family The only way that socialism prevailed was by the unraveling of the family unit, and this occurred by way of the educational and economic milieu of the previous six generations. The social context drives the political. But a rising minority of families are reacting strongly against these socio-economic trends, and bringing moms home. . .and they're bringing dads home too. Kevin Swanson interviews home school veteran Bob Farewell on their family's experience traveling the United States in the 1980s and 1990s in an entrepreneurial endeavor that reintegrated one family in an amazing way.

Propping up the Character of a Nation One public school in South Carolina still offers spanking as one of its services available to the students. If you were a principal of a public school, how would you salvage the character of a nation? As long as we’re in the business of delegating everything, does delegating discipline to a state-sponsored "spanking police" make sense? Would anything compensate for the failure of parenting? Kevin Swanson interacts with the question of biblical discipline and he struggles with whether a bureaucrat really loves our children as much as we do.

Maximum Liberty in God’s Law Order We don't feel the need to put seven-year-old boys in boxes, bolt them to chairs and force them into book study for 5-6 hours a day. Nor do we particularly like the idea of enslaving our daughters to corporate slave mills or socialist systems. But if you want to send your children to a conventional classroom occasionally, or take in a brick-and-mortar college education, go for it. Just try not to sacrifice your liberties in the process, and obliterate the vision God has laid out in His Word for your sons and daughters in the process.

Reformation 500 John Calvin is a giant in history whose ideas and influence spanned half a millennium and a handful of continents. He may be the most hated, the most loved, the most influential, and the most caricaturized man in 500 years of world history. No other person influenced the English puritans and separatists, the Scottish Presbyterians, the Dutch Reformed, the French Huguenots, and the American colonies as much as this man. He celebrates his 500th birthday this year, and Douglas Phillips from Vision Forum joins us on this edition of Generations to commemorate this significant event.

How We Got to this Point Why would parents send their children to schools in California where anything close to a biblical position on homosexuality is forbidden by law? How did we get from America's first reader which began with "In Adam's Fall, We Sinned All," to the modern reader "Heather has Two Daddys?" Kevin Swanson - Host of Generations - takes you through the history of the decline of curriculum used in American schools that slowly transitioned from a God-centered view of reality and truth to a man-centered, humanist worldview. And think of all of the good parents who stayed on the slide the whole way down.

Interview: David McAlvany Kevin Swanson interviews economist and investor, David McAlvany on the present economic condition in this country. Shall we look for continuing deflation or hyperinflation? Will deflation and high unemployment lead to more loan defaults? Or will the federal reserve be pressed to hyper inflate the economy? Or will we see the worse of both worlds? The clouds are gathering, and although there are no prophets here, what we have may be "a perfect storm."

Two problems: No Faith and no Works Evangelical Christians are more likely to get a divorce than Jews. And more Catholics find homosexuality and children born out of wedlock morally acceptable than the wider population. The parking lots fill up on Easter, but the faith is dissipating and the salt has lost its savor. At what point are we just faking this religion thing? At what point has the faith died? The answer is simple - when it is separated from works. Kevin Swanson presents a simple gospel message on this edition of Generations.

Family Bands on the Comeback When a family lives in harmony and sings in harmony, it demonstrates an outstanding testimony to a fragmented, dysfunctional world. Family bands are coming back, and the wholesome, beautiful entertainment produced by these families is refreshing. Listen to this inspiring interview with Christina Emmons (with father Richard) from the Emmons Sister Band, and Zach Lautenschlager from Heirs of Baird.

Working on the Shamefacedness Thing Some girl from a beauty contest in a bikini on national television says she doesn't like homosexual marriage, thereby causing a bit of furor from people who like homosexual marriages. But what about all the guys out there that don't like homosexual marriage, but they sure do like to gawk at girls in bikinis talking about how they don't like homosexual marriage? A lot of interesting things seem to mark the trail to Gomorrah. But there are still a few fathers out there who think there may be something to those old principles of purity, modesty, and shamefacedness contained in that old, tattered, forgotten book in the corner over there. Would I really want my daughter touting her features on the cover of Playboy or Cosmo or the Miss USA pageant? There's a question every father better ask himself.

A Pot of Pourri Hillary Clinton gets the Margaret Sanger Award, in fond memories of the great legacy of the world's most famous eugenicist. Clinton expressed deep appreciation for Sanger's vision, which envisioned the elimination of "human weeds," creating "a race of thoroughbreds." The Church of Scotland, with a little help from their scientist friends explain why God got it all wrong with this homosexual business. Then, Kevin Swanson and the President work on cutting 1/35,000th of the 2010 FY budget. Kevin and Dave take a look into several zoo exhibits on this edition of Generations.
