How to Know If You’re Faking It

It’s a good rule of thumb:  If something walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck, it’s a safe bet to say… it’s a duck!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez says it works the same way with us.  As we walk, talk, and act like Christ, it’s a sure sign that we’re really Christians!  The biblical term for this godly progression of faith is sanctification.

Living in Light of Implausible Love Is there anything more amazing than the grace of God?  It cleanses us from sin, washes away our shame, frees us to obey the Lord, and paves the way for our entrance into heaven.  And this incredible gift is free to those who choose to take it!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez reminds us that this incredible display of love from God was very costly.  How should we respond to such a remarkable gift?

Living in Light of Implausible Love God’s grace is an amazing gift.  We don’t deserve it, we can’t buy it, and we certainly can’t earn the love of God.  Yet, while grace is completely free to us, it cost God greatly.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez examines what God was willing to pay to order to save us from our sins.  Once we realize the cost, we’ll never again view God’s grace the same way.

The Problem with Being Ugly When we gaze into the mirror, we might like what we see.  Sure, there are a few wrinkles, some faint love handles, maybe a blemish here or there.  But over-all, we’re not unattractive people, are we?  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez holds up the mirror of Scripture to give us an honest reflection of our spiritual appearance.  And it’s not a pretty picture!  The bad news is that sin has marred our image.  But Colossians, Chapter 1, provides some good news.

The Problem with Being UglyOur culture is big on the value of self-esteem.  We’re encouraged to see ourselves as beautiful, intelligent, and perfect.  But the Bible doesn’t concede to such dishonest self- flattery.  Instead, God’s Word delivers a true appraisal of our shortcomings before a holy God.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez turns to a passage from Colossians that should encourage us not because it bolsters our self-image, but rather because it details how God loves us in spite of our flaws.

What to Do if He is Really the God of CreationIt’s astonishing to think that the Architect who formed the entire universe is the very same person who worked as a small town carpenter over two thousand years ago.  Yet, the Scripture proclaims that all creation is the result of Jesus Christ’s handiwork.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explores Christ’s impressive résumé found in the book of Colossians.
