The Supremacy of Christ Part 3b - The Son of God

January 10, 2011
Can you think of something off-hand that you’ve heard so often, that you’ve grown tired of hearing it? Perhaps a certain commercial on TV, or a repetitious saying from a friend. Sadly, though we may not readily admit it, many have that same feeling about the Gospel message. We’ve heard it time and time again and maybe you think you’re beyond all that now, and ready for something new? We really never can hear it enough! Let’s look back to the cross today on Focal Point as Pastor Mike helps us fully appreciate the Heavenly Father’s sacrifice of His Son.

One of the tell-tale signs of a cult is that they either deny Christ, or His diety. Mormons and the Jehovah Witnesses will tell you that Jesus is not God. Of course, as Christians, we know that He really is. However, is it really all that important to get that straight? Today on the broadcast Pastor Mike Fabarez will show us why we should appreciate the truth that the Son is God, and He’ll also point out a few other things we should know about our Lord.

If I were to ask you to tell me what you think an angel is and does,  perhaps you’d describe an image of something with wings, a harp and a halo. Or maybe you think that an angel is someone that has died and come back with wings? Or would you say, it’s someone sitting on a cloud plucking the harp and waiting to arrive at some unknown destination? We’ve all seen angels depicted on T.V. or in gift shops, but today on Focal Point we’ll see what they’re really all about, and just maybe it’s a far different picture than the one currently in your mind.

According to the Bible, angels exist! In fact, there are over 250 references to them throughout scripture. From the story of creation in Genesis, to the description of the end times in Revelation, angels actively participate in the affairs of this world and heaven. However, they are widely misunderstood, and so here today on Focal Point, Pastor Mike Fabarez will dispell a few myths and point to the truth about Angels as our study in Hebrews continues.

In the book of Hebrews, God is saying that His Son has done something incredible, and wants to recognize it. As we come to understand who Jesus is and what He’s accomplished, it will really impact our lives in a great way. Let’s seek to do that now. Mike Fabarez is in Hebrews one encouraging us to honor the King of Kings.

If you’re a parent you probably get as proud as a peacock when your kids accomplish something great. Maybe you’re quick to flash out the report card to your friends, or put the trophy in a conspicous location in the living room for all to see. Today on Focal Point, we’ll hear about the ultimate Son, through the praise of His Father. Join us as we begin our study of Hebrews and a series called, “The Supremacy of Christ.” Today Pastor Mike Fabarez shows us that Jesus speaks for God, and so we should listen to Him carefully.

Just about any runner will tell you, in a race you must avoid looking behind you as that will slow you down and cause you to lose focus. Instead you need to stay focused on the finish line. That’s also a good way to run the Christian life as we’re about to see today on Focal Point. As we wrap up another year, I’d imagine a good number of you are tired, maybe even greatly discouraged as you look at your past! Some are finding it difficult to want to even get up out of bed in the morning to face the future. As we’ll see today there’s good reason to not worry about yesterday. Pastor Mike Fabarez will take us to Phillippians three and we’ll be encouraged to forget what lies behind and press on to know the Lord in the present and future.

In sports, coaches preach the fundamentals, and at times they have to take even the greatest star athlete back to the basics in order for them to make progress. Each of us need that in our Christian lives too. We need to remember why we’re here, and what our purpose really is. In short, it’s to know Christ! So, today pastor Mike will take us to Phillippians three, and verses 12-14 to remind us of that as we prepare for 2011. Join us as we get back to the basics and learn how to “Pass Go” with a renewed and godly determination

The economic forecast for our world is rather gloomy, isn’t it? And maybe you’re greatly concerned, or even worried! For others, it’s a family related catastrophe that has you down and discouraged. In the midst of a crisis, and even before one strikes, we need to be spiritually prepared. Christians, of all people, should face disasters and suffering with fortitude, courage, strength and transcendent peace. Sadly though, many believers start freaking out when tragedy strikes. Today on Focal Point we derive great encouragement from the Scriptures, to help us travel through this life with a calm, biblical perspective.

In light of the many economic problems, to the conflicts in foreign lands, and even warnings of large scale earthquakes, many are left concerned and even worried. Today on Focal Point, we're pleased to bring you some much needed encouragement from the Scriptures. It will serve to help us get spiritually prepared, for whatever crisis comes our way. We're told that when John Huss was arrested and informed that he would be burned to death for his faith, he purposely practiced holding his hand over fire to prepare for his final test. He burned himself in preparation. He wanted to be faithful to the end. Pastor Mike Fabarez helps us get prepared for whatever comes our way.

If you’re like most, you opened a few presents, downed an enjoyable meal, and shared some great time together with friends and family this past weekend. But is that really all there is to Christmas? Pastor Mike Fabarez says, Christmas is really all about the glory of God, and he’s about to show us how we can respond appropriately to Christmas.  Christ’s life was all about bringing glory to the Father, and so should ours.
