The Reliability of the Bible, Part 4b

December 21, 2011
When we hear claims that directly oppose the Bible, we're quick to reject them as false. Whether it's a different religion, or an immoral lifestyle, these diversions are easy to spot. Sometimes false teaching takes on a more subtle tone. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez talks about the objective truth of God's Word. How do we discern what's true from what's false? Pastor Mike gives us a little guidance today in a message called, "A Standard That Works."

If you're good at estimations, it's possible you could make a fair stab at someone's height, or the distance from one point to another. But in order to check your guess, you'd have to use a more objective form of measurement. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez describes a perfect standard for measuring truth. Someone may have an opinion, but unless it measures up to the Bible we can reject the claim as false.

When it comes to personal preferences, we're all a little different. Some of us enjoy turkey for Christmas dinner, for instance, and others prefer roast beef. While it's wonderful to celebrate diversity when it comes to family traditions, we run into problems when we apply this attitude to spiritual things. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez reminds us that the Bible and its contents aren't up for personal opinions.

What's the difference between truth and opinion? These days, many people think there's not a whole lot of difference between the two. Truth appears to be relative. What's right for me, may not be right for you! Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez talks about how we know the Bible is true, not a matter of opinion, but true for all people everywhere.

"O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie..." It's not unusual to hear these familiar words in church, on the radio, or even in shopping malls this time of year. Over two thousand years have passed since Jesus was born in that little town, but did you know this event was predicted long before Jesus arrived? Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez continues a study about the Reliability of God's Word. We're looking at the remarkable fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

Throughout history, the Bible has been central to the life of the church. We defend its authority in our lives, and study from its pages on Sundays. However, few of us have a grasp for how great this book truly is! Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez begins a study about the Reliability of God's Word. When we read through Scripture, one thing becomes very clear...God keeps His promises! This applies to promises He's already filled, and ones He'll make good on in the future! Someone once said that the best proof that the Bible is true is Israel! Throughout history this little nation has seen days of grandeur and days of ruin. Yet, somehow even to this day, the people of Israel are flourishing. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez talks about God's Future for Israel. The Bible not only tells us what happened in Israel's past, but it gives us fascinating clues about the future as well.

That's what we're doing today on Focal Point. Mike Fabarez continues a study in Romans 11, and gives us a little bit of context for God's relationship with Israel.
