What to Do if He is Really God

We all love a good story.  Well-told tales of love, loss, and redemption can captivate our imagination and earn our undivided attention.  And while many fascinating accounts have been told throughout history, none can hold a candle to the greatest story ever told.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez recounts the wonder and amazement that comes when hearing that the immortal God became a mortal man.

Three Reasons to Be Really Thankful On the last Thursday in November, we set aside time fill our plates and express our gratitude for the blessings in our lives.  But the rest of the year we often focus on what we lack!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez encourages us to practice biblical Thanksgiving year-round.  Even in the hard times, when our table may be sparse, in Christ we have so much to be grateful for!

Three Reasons to Be Really Thankful In a world filled with toils, troubles and trials around every corner, it’s easy become disheartened.  Yet, while life may give us a hundred reasons to complain, as Christians, God has given us a million more reasons to be thankful!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez highlights just three blessings from the Lord that should fill us with profound gratitude.

Instructions for CombatWhen a fellow Christian is in need, there are many ways to help.  We can encourage them with compassionate words, timely advice, or maybe a listening ear.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez suggests that one of the best ways to help another believer is by praying for them!  When we follow the example of intercession found in the book of Colossians, we can play a crucial role in someone else’s walk with the God!

Instructions for CombatThe apostle Paul once wrote, “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood… but against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12 ESV).  If that’s true, then the normal tools we have to battle our problems are useless.  To combat a spiritual foe, we’ll need to equip ourselves with a spiritual weapon!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez encourages us to get in the practice of intercessory prayer.  It’s the means God has given to help one another win life’s battles!

Understanding the Battle There are many different ways that we can communicate with God.  There are prayers of gratitude for blessings, pleas for forgiveness when we sin, and prayers of provision when we’re in need.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez reminds us not to forget a critically important kind of petition... the prayer of intercession.  We can make an eternal difference in the lives of other people when we take the time to bring them before the Lord.

Understanding the BattleIs there someone in your life who’s in the midst of a battle?  Maybe they’re struggling with health issues, financial problems, relational troubles, or spiritual concerns.  Wouldn’t it be great if you could come alongside them and help them win the fight?  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explains that God has given us the power to do just that!  It’s called “intercessory prayer”, and it’s an effective weapon in the hands of a Christian.

Seeing Beyond This Zip CodeFor those who are near-sighted, objects on the horizon will seem fuzzy and distant.  It’s not until they put on a pair of glasses that objects becomes clearer, and the world comes into focus.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez turns to a passage in the book of Colossians that acts like a pair of spiritual lenses.  Instead of seeing only our immediate surroundings, God wants to open our eyes to needs of people all over the world!

Seeing Beyond This Zip Code There are more than six billion people in our world today.  And whether they occupy the sprawling cities of America, the humble villages in Africa, or the rural townships in Europe, God cares for each and every person on earth!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez asks us to share God’s vision for world.  It’s a passion to reach people with the gospel of Christ down the street and around the globe!

Seeing Beyond This LifeWhen the troubles and trials of life begin to pile up, it can be difficult to see through the pain, leaving us feeling hopeless and discouraged.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez helps us widen our vision to see past our problems.  It’s a heavenly mindset that puts this life into proper perspective.  Because it’s not the benefits of this life that makes following Christ so rewarding, rather it’s what we have waiting for us in the next!

Seeing Beyond This LifeAn experienced runner knows that it’s a bad idea to watch your feet as you jog.  With that kind of narrow focus, you’re liable to trip and fall or wander off course.  Instead, a successful runner widens their gaze, and looks to see the goal that lies ahead.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explains that Christianity works the same way.  Instead of fixing our gaze on the here and now, God is calling us to see the hope to come.
