Sexual Sins and Sanctified Bodies Part 2b

February 9, 2011
The first century city of Corinth resembles modern day America in many ways, not least of which is their view and practice of sex. For them, and many in our world today too, sex was thought of as mere recreation. What they failed to realize is that it was designed for unification. We learned last time that sex binds people together, and the only proper context is within marriage. Turn if you would to First Corinthians 6, as we pick up where we left off in our series called “Sexual Sins and Sanctified Bodies.”

We all know that adhesive tape is not made for repetitive use. The strongest bond adhesive tape is capable of making is formed with the first surface to which it is applied. God intended sex to bind two people together, and here too we are to be careful how it is applied. Today on Focal Point, we return to First Corinthians 6 and our series, “Sexual Sins and Sanctified Bodies.” The apostle Paul will make it very clear to the Corinthians and us that sex outside of marriage is destructive in more ways than one.

Our sexual purity is something we should not only value and guard, but it is something that should be important to us. Today on Focal Point we’ll see that God cares about your body, and what you do with it. Perhaps you’re thinking right now, “Well, I’ve already blown it in that area, so who cares?” Pastor Mike Fabarez will show those of us who have, that we can work vigilantly to regain our purity and move forward with a new respect about it. We’ll be continuing our series, “Sexual Sins and Sanctified Bodies,” today.

Have you ever thrown something away and later discovered that it was something valuable? Maybe you can relate to Mike’s baseball card experience he’ll share in a second. Or perhaps like me, you’ve sold something at a garage sale and later regreted it? Today on Focal Point we’ll discover the value of our sexual purity, before we carelessly throw it away. Sexual Sins and Sanctified Bodies is the title Pastor Mike Fabarez has given the series we begin today on Focal Point. On this Friday broadcast we’ll take a look at how the Manufacturer views our bodies, as we explore an area of scripture dealing with sexual purity and the importance of it.

Today pastor Mike Fabarez opens Hebrews 3 for some valuable insights regarding faithfulness. In fact, we’ve titled this series we’re in, “Faithful to God.” Faithfulness to our Lord really should be our goal in life. If you’ll remember when we left you yesterday, Mike was encouraging us to be receptive to God’s words. That’s a key ingredient for being loyal to Christ. There are two others, which we’ll bring to your attention today.
February 3, 2011
Last time on Focal Point we couldn’t have received a better picture of faithfulness, as we looked at the life of Christ. Now on the flip side of the coin, today we look at a bad example. This one is of unfaithfulness. Pastor Mike Fabarez will draw today’s study from Hebrews three, as well as the Old Testament, and encourage us toward faithful living. Faithful living on earth, really has a bearing on our eternal placement in the Kingdom to come.

In Luke 18 we find the question,"When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" Will He find us faithful? We'll observe the faithfulness of Christ and be encouraged to be faithful ourselves today on Focal Point with Mike Fabarez. The third chapter of Hebrews is really all about faithfulness and describes the kind of faithfulness God desires of us. He left us a perfect example to follow, and of course that's Christ.

Today pastor Mike Fabarez begins a four part series on faithfulness to God. We start things off by looking at Moses, who though he was far from perfect, stands out in Scripture as one who was loyal and faithful to God even when it was costly. Wouldn’t you like that to be said of you? Let’s see what it takes to receive the title, “Faithful!”

Last time we were together, Mike Fabarez was encouraging us to think rightly of ourselves. We learned that really God owns us, and our lives ought to reflect that. Now as we come back to Hebrews 3:1 we’re encouraged to think of Jesus as our everything. He’s everything we need from God, and everything God needs from us. And then we need to think about Jesus more often. Christianity is more than a creed, and it’s something that controls our thinking and lives.
January 28, 2011
If asked to define Christianity would you do so in terms of a creed or set of beliefs? Many would. But today on Focal Point, Pastor Mike Fabarez will show us that it’s so much more than that. As Mike is about to put it, it’s really not a belief that you hold but a belief that holds you. Christianity is more than a creed, and it starts by realizing God owns us, and that we’re set apart for Him.

Communion... that’s one of the sacraments the church is to observe today. Do we really understand the cost of Christ coming, and the benefits? The cost and benefit of the incarnation is today’s Focal Point. We’ll not only gain some appreciation of the cost of Christ coming to save us from our sins, but also we’ll take some time to celebrate the incredible benefits in light of the incarnation.
