Real Change from the Inside Out

When it comes to morality, most of us would classify ourselves as average.  We’re not saints, for sure, but we’re not altogether evil, either.  Compared to others, we might even be considered a good person!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez examines a conversation between Jesus and an upstanding leader of the community.  It’ll bring clarity on just who is considered righteous in the eyes of God.

God in Everyday LifeAll of us are building something.  Some of us are working on building our career.  Others are trying to construct healthy and happy families.  Our days are often filled with the pursuit of the tools and talents we need to accomplish our goals.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez offers a biblical reminder from Psalm 127.  “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.”  Do you see the evidence of His handiwork in your life?

God in Everyday Life There are two ways to view success in life.  The first is to see our blessings as a natural outcome of our skill, determination, and intelligence.  The second is to recognize the good things we have as gracious gifts from our Heavenly Father.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez tells the story of a king who made the mistake of taking all the glory for himself.  He had to learn the hard way to see God in Everyday Life.

The Greatness of the BookWhen we hear the word law, it’s not unusual to have a negative reaction.  We tend to associate the law with traffic tickets, long deliberations, guilty verdicts and jury duty.  But if we allow this cynical perspective to carry over to our understanding of the Bible, we’ll miss God’s good purpose for His commands.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez talks about the joy, peace and liberty we can find in following the letter of God’s Law.

The Greatness of the BookWhether we’re constructing a skyscraper or assembling our kid’s swing set, the success of the job hinges on sticking to the blueprints.  So when it comes to building a solid relationship with God, we need to follow His blueprints.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez encourages us to make the Bible our central focus.  Within pages of God’s Word are all the instruction and guidance we need to build a life of faith and obedience.

The Greatness of the BookIt took 1600 years to finish.  Its single Author used 40 different writers to complete this impressive volume.  It has been translated into over twelve thousand languages, and remains on the best seller list year after year.  I’m talking, of course, about the Bible... the complete, accurate and reliable Word of God.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explores the importance of God’s masterpiece.  What does God’s Word have to say about God’s Word?

Count Your BlessingsAlong with praising God for Who He is, authentic worship also involves thanking God for what He has done.  But whether we’re careless and forget or preoccupied by current troubles, we aren’t always very good at remembering the many ways God has blessed us.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez reminds us of three things in every Christian’s life for which we can show gratitude to our Heavenly Father.

Count Your Blessings In our fast-paced life, we often make lists to help us remember.  We make a grocery list for the market, a packing list when we travel, and we even create a to-do list for the day.  But when’s the last time you made a list of your blessings in order to praise our Heavenly Father?  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez brings us back to a biblical perspective on worship.  According to Psalm 103, true praise begins by acknowledging God’s gifts.

Count Your BlessingsOnce a week we gather together in church to join our voices with others around us in singing songs to God.  We call it “worship.”  But worship isn’t limited to what happens at church.  The Bible has a lot to say about this spiritual activity!  And no passage better explains the essence of biblical praise than Psalm 103.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez turns to this uplifting hymn to demonstrate how we can incorporate worship into our daily lives.

The Brevity of LifeIt’s one of the most tragic accounts in Scripture.  Just a few feet from the Promised Land, the people of Israel made an abrupt U-turn and spent the next forty years wandering in the desert.  Still doubting the goodness of God, that generation perished in the wilderness without ever reaching their goal.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explains what we can learn from Israel’s example and how to avoid a life of futility.

The Brevity of LifeWhen we’re young, we act as if we’ll live forever.  It’s not until we get a little older and a little wiser that we begin to realize our mortality.  In the scope of eternity, our presence here is brief.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez asks the question; what we can learn from The Brevity of Life?  We find the answer in Psalm 90, a self- reflective song about life, death, and the Person in control of it all.
