Life’s Last Enemy, Part 3b

November 8, 2012
Living in Light of Christ’s Victory Over Death
Like a pioneer blazing a trail into uncharted territory, Jesus charted a path through death, and into a new and glorious life. And if we chose to follow Him, we can be confident we’ll reach our eternal destination. But if we forge our own trail, we’re bound to lose our way. On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explains that lasting hope isn’t found in our own efforts or in other paths. This edition's study in 1 Corinthians is titled, "Living in Light of Christ’s Victory Over Death."

Loaded with burdens or worries, we barely have the energy just to put one foot in front of another. Thankfully, the Bible provides the encouragement we need to keep going. Our study in 1 Corinthians continues with the message, "Living in Light of Christ’s Victory Over Death."

Conquering Death…It’s the Whole PointMost understand death to be an end…a permanent departure from this earth. Yet, the Bible records an event unlike anything else in human history…Jesus died, His body was laid in the tomb…and then, three days later He rose again! But is such a remarkable event even possible? On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez picks up where he left off yesterday examining the question, “Did Jesus really come back to life?” We’re in 1 Corinthians 15. Today’s message is titled, "Life’s Last Enemy."

Conquering Death … It’s the Whole PointJesus promised that if we put our trust in Him, death would have no claim on us.  One day we’d follow in His footsteps… and walk right out of our graves and into a brand new life!  But is such a thing even possible?  Is there really life after death?  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explains why Jesus’ resurrection is the most significant event in history… and why it’s relevant to us today.

Conquering Death … It’s the Whole PointIf you could condense the entire message of the Bible into a single thought, what would it be? Perhaps you’d say it’s about living a good life. Or maybe an explanation of who God is. On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez describes the central theme of God’s Word. While we can learn many things about God and ourselves within its pages, there is a singular message contained in the Bible. We’ll find it in 1 Corinthians 15.

It’s never easy to attend the funeral of a loved one. As we gather around the coffin to say our final goodbyes, we’re hit with the sheer injustice of death. Though we’ve heard death is natural, it never really feels that way. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez affirms that it’s right to see death as unnatural. Our untimely end is a tragic problem. Fortunately…God has the perfect solution! Today’s message is part of a study in 1 Corinthians called, "Life’s Last Enemy."

Even now, as our hearts beat in a regular rhythm we all know deep down that the clock is ticking. One day, and hopefully no time soon, our heart will beat for the very last time. Yes, we all have to face the reality of death, but this wasn’t always a part of God’s plan! Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez begins a new chapter in our study of 1 Corinthians by examining our mortality. Is death an inescapable foe? Today’s message is called, "Life’s Last Enemy."

When God’s people are in trouble or in need it’s not uncommon for the Lord to intervene in supernatural ways. Accounts of phenomenal rescues, incredible healings, and divine guidance abound in pages of Scripture. So why do miracles seem rare these days? Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez takes us to key biblical passages to give us a better understanding of the design and role of supernatural events. We’re digging into the book of Corinthians for, "A Brief Study of When God Breaks the Rules He Made."

When we read through Scripture we come across stories that are, frankly, astonishing. There are varied accounts in history when God intervened, and the miraculous happened! Yet these startling events can introduce a whole host of questions. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez pauses our study in 1 Corinthians to investigate the questions surrounding miracles. Why does God choose to disrupt the laws of nature He created? And how should we respond? Today’s message is titled, "A Brief Study of When God Breaks the Rules He Made!"

Generally speaking, we can predict what will happen in our Universe. In fact, creation is so consistent that we’ve even drawn principles that we call, “The laws of nature.” But every now and then, God steps in and breaks the very laws He created in order to communicate His glory. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez takes a break from our study in 1 Corinthians to provide some biblical background on miracles. Our message is titled, "A Brief Study of When God Breaks the Rules He Made."

Most of us can give a detailed run down of what to expect at our church on a Sunday morning. We sing a hymn, someone prays, then the pastor presents a message, and then we take the offering and sing two more songs before we’re dismissed. While every congregation will look a little bit different, most churches have an orderly fashion in which things are done. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez talks about the scriptural foundations for order in the church. We're in 1 Corinthians 14.
