When you think about the Lord’s soon return, how does it make you feel? If you’re a born again Christian, you should be excited about the prospects of seeing Him face to face. It really is impossible to imagine just how glorious it’s going to be! But, we shouldn’t just sit around doing nothing while we wait for His arrival as we’ll discover today on Focal Point.

Through the recent recession, we saw how quickly our investments can disappear. Did you realize, this world as we know it will eventually pass away, and the things that many are living for will eventually burn up? There are some things, however, that will last for eternity. Pastor Mike Fabarez will encourage us to invest in that, today on Focal Point. A high performing portfolio is every investor’s goal. So let’s take a good hard look at where we’re investing, and see how to create a portfolio that has a guaranteed success rate from God.

Every once in a while you hear of a one time mulit-millionaire faced with bankruptcy, due to poor investments. As tragic as that sounds, if we stop and think about it, really everything on earth will pass away. However, there are some things we can invest in now, that we can take with us into eternity. Pastor Mike encourages us to value those three things.

Have you ever been discouraged looking around at all the evil in our world, and think to yourself, “What’s taking the Lord so long to return? Why doesn’t He just come right now!” Today on Focal Point, we return to our study of Second Peter, and in chapter three we discover a couple of good reasons not to be discouraged by the delay of the Lord’s return.

Many of us frequent fliers have experienced the frustration of waiting for the plane to take off. Perhaps the weather conditions aren’t just right, or there is ice on the wings. We’re trusting the airlines with our lives, and so we really shouldn’t mind waiting to make sure things are safe. As Christians, we’ve been waiting around for Christ to return for centuries, but there are good reasons for the delay.

When you face times of trouble, what comforts you? We’re going to take you to Second Peter three which spotlights the expectation of Christians for centuries- the Second Coming of Jesus! This dear doctrine brings hope and comfort, like no other. Pastor Mike Fabarez helps us fan into a flame a bit of expectation and enthusiasm about the return of Christ.

Throughout this month pastor Mike Fabarez has been focusing our attention on prayer, and as we wrap up the series today our aim is to take our prayer life to a whole new level. And that is to be more consistent, thoughtful and specific. When we left you last time, Mike said we need start with a decision to pray, and then guard it. Now we see how thanksgiving is to be woven into our prayer time.

The profound privilege of prayer is our Focal Point on this Friday. I think 99.9% of us would admit our prayer life isn’t where it needs to be. Let’s see if we can get our prayer lives kick started by turning to Colossians four and receive some prayer basics.

It was Richard Trench that said “Prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance but cooperating with His willingness.” That’s so true isn’t it, and yet so many of us are reluctant to cooperate with His willingness. Many times we want our own way, which runs in the opposite direction of God’s way. We turn back to First John on this Thursday and examine the words of chapter three, and verses 21-24.

Have you ever asked yourself, “Does God really listen to our prayers, and answer them?” Here on our Wednesday Focal Point, pastor Mike Fabarez presents a message centered around prayers that get answered. It’s just part of our ongoing series on prayer. Pastor Mike will show us two things that God requires of us before He’ll answer our prayers.
