When God Speaks

Few things are more frustrating than trying to speak to someone and it’s clear they’re not listening!  It makes you wonder why you bother talking at all!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez encourages us to avoid making that same mistake with our Heavenly Father.  Whether it’s through the wonder of His creation, or through the truth of His Word, God has some important things He wants to tell us.

When God Speaks Depending on what we say and how we say it, our words can have a great impact.  We can inspire, encourage, or comfort others.  Or we can tear down and wound those around us.  But our speech pales in comparison to the power of God’s Words.  At His spoken Word, the universe was created and people are transformed!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez provides a fascinating look at the authority of God’s Words, both in creation and in the pages of Scripture.

When God SpeaksFrom the awe inspiring wonders of the galaxies, to the microscopic marvels in our cells, every part of creation practically shouts the beauty and majesty of God.  And Scripture tells us that by the power of His words, God simply spoke this entire universe into existence.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez shows how exploring creation should lead us to a certain kind of response to the Creator.

A Map For Mountain Climbers How is your relationship with God today?  Are you enjoying the closeness of a loving connection?  Or perhaps you’re feeling distant from the God who cares for you.  No matter where we are today, we all have room to grow in our relationship with the Lord.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez turns to an Old Testament Psalm to show us the steps we need to take to develop a strong relationship with our Heavenly Father.

A Map for Mountain Climbers The pinnacle of the Christian life is not a worry- free life, an overflowing bank account, or even a productive ministry.  The highpoint of walking with Jesus is a close relationship with God.  But how to get from where we might be today, to the place where we’re closely connected with our Heavenly Father?  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez opens up the book of Psalms to guide us in reaching that relational summit.

A Map for Mountain ClimbersThe rewards of following Christ are many.  There’s the forgiveness from sins, the strength to get through each day, and the hope of heaven.  But above and beyond these wonderful benefits, there’s an even greater prize attached to the Christian life.  It’s a relationship with our Heavenly Father!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explores the book of Psalms to find out what we can do to remain close and connected to the God who loves us.

Forecast for a Rebellious World When we see signs like “Caution!” or “Danger ahead!” we’d be wise to slow down, pay attention, and make sure we stay on the straight and narrow road!  In the same way, when God’s Word speaks clearly and seriously about coming hazards, we should pay attention!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez offers a biblical warning found in the book of Psalms.

Forecast for a Rebellious WorldThe poet William Henley once wrote “I am the master of my fate/ I am the Captain of my soul.” His words echo the sentiment of today’s culture.  We want to be in charge and we may bristle at the idea that we’re not in control of our lives.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez reminds us that we’re under the gracious and loving authority of Christ.  And the Bible has some warnings about those who rebel against His rule.

Forecast for a Rebellious World Many of today’s forecasters predict that our world is heading towards a bright and sunny future.  Yet, the Bible warns us of a different outcome altogether.  If the world continues on its current path, there’s bound to be dark clouds on the horizon!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez takes a serious look at the future that awaits our world.  It’s not a happy outlook, but it’s one that deserves our attention.

A Life God Chooses to Bless Ask ten random strangers the secret to happiness and it’s very possible you’ll get ten different answers!  While we all want to experience a life of joy and contentment, it seems everyone has an opinion about how to go about doing that.  Thankfully, we can turn to God’s Word for answers.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez turns to the Bible’s book of poetry to examine how we can live a happy and fulfilled life.

A Life God Chooses to Bless As our society puts pressure on everyone to get on the same page, it takes a great amount of courage for a follower of Christ to sing a different tune.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez turns to God’s songbook for a timely challenge to live differently.  Though it may open us to ridicule or derision, following God’s plan will lead us along the very best paths.  We’re just getting started in a study of the Psalms.
