Dealing With Objections, Part 1

March 3, 2014

In previous discussions, we’ve seen how the Holy Spirit prepares people to hear the gospel.  We’ve also seen how Scripture gives us the words in order to share the Good News.  But afterwards?  How do we respond when the invitation we present is met smirks, frowns, or even anger?  On this edition of Focal Point, Pastor Mike turns to Luke, chapter 4 for instructions on Dealing with Objections.

We don’t need clever tactics or in-depth psychology, but we will need the Word of God!

When sharing the gospel message with others, we have a few tools at our disposable. We might use tracts, apologetics, even our own personal testimonies. But if we decide to follow the pattern of the Master Evangelist Himself, we'll find that the biggest resource for sharing the gospel is the Word of God. On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explains how Jesus used the Bible to win hearts and minds for the Kingdom of God.

There are many gifted evangelists and missionaries we can look up too. But as ambassadors for Jesus, there is no better model for sharing the Good News than Jesus Himself. How did the Son of God go about delivering the message of repentance, forgiveness and grace?  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez is showing us how Jesus relied on the power of God’s written Word to share the Good News.

Satan is a clever deceiver.  The proof is seen in how the Enemy tested Jesus.  In our study on Temptation, we’ve seen how Satan appeals to our desires in order to trip us up.  We’ve also seen how he goes after our ambitions to get us off- track.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez concludes our mini- series by looking at Satan’s most subtle and devious temptation … and that’s twisting the words of the Bible!

God’s Word is the ultimate authority on life.  But is it possible that we can use the Bible to wander off track?  Mike Fabarez explains that it’s very possible!  On this edition of Focal Point, we’re looking at Satan’s temptation of Jesus, and how the Enemy quoted Scripture to try to get Jesus to fall.  How do we avoid the same trap of using God’s Word incorrectly?  For instruction on this important topic, Pastor Mike turns to Luke Chapter 4.

It happens to the best of us.  We’ll catch bits and pieces of a conversation, and before really knowing the context, we jump to conclusions about what’s being said.  When it turns out we were wrong, we might come back and say, “Sorry.  I guess I was just making an assumption!”  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explains how to avoid hasty or incorrect conclusions about God or His Word.  We certainly don’t want to risk supposing what God isn’t saying!
