Being Extra Careful to Always to Take Hold of the Truth, Part 3

August 18, 2014
Few things are more frustrating than trying to speak to someone when it’s clear they’re not listening!  It makes you wonder why you bother talking at all!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez encourages us to avoid making that same mistake with God’s Word.  Through the inspired words of Scripture, God has some important things to say.  But are we paying close attention to what we hear?

It’s been estimated that we see almost 250 marketing messages every day.  But we rarely notice them.  In this age of constant age of information, we’ve become very good at ignoring a lot of what comes our way!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explains that while it’s good idea to block out some of the noise in our lives, we need to be careful not to tune out what God wants to tell us.

You know, it’s not just the wiggly kids in the classroom.  We all have a bit of attention deficit disorder!  We’re easily distracted by the multitude of voices, noises and clamor we hear each day.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez helps us refocus and take notice of the words that really matter.  In Hebrews, chapter 2, we find God snapping His fingers, waving His hands, and asking … Are ya paying attention?

Nothing we give could ever compare to all that God has given us.  But is there some way we could show God how grateful we are?  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez offers a few gift ideas.  We’re headed to Hebrews, chapter 1, as we continue the mini-series called Supremacy of Christ.

Christmas is still a few months away.  But maybe you’re already on the hunt for the perfect gift for that challenging name on your list.  It’s difficult to shop for someone who has everything.  But it’s harder picking a gift for Someone who created everything.  What could we give God that He would enjoy?  Well, rather than search the Internet or head to the mall, on this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez turns to the book of Hebrews for gift ideas.

When issues pop up in our lives, so do a lot of questions.  That’s why we regularly set aside this time to ask Pastor Mike Fabarez some of those questions that are in the forefront of our minds.

Every one of us is a son or daughter.  That may mean we inherited our dad’s nose, our mom’s laugh, or our parent’s little quirks.  On a basic level, being a son or daughter means we’re human just like mom and dad.  But to call someone The Son of God?  Well, that title is full of meaning.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez looks at the bond between God the Father and God the Son as we continue Learning to Appreciate What Sonship Implies

Is there something that you’ve heard so often that it’s become overly familiar?  Perhaps it’s a song your child plays over and over again.  Or maybe it’s a repetitious saying from a friend.  Could it also be the Good News of the gospel?  Maybe we’ve heard the message a few times and it doesn’t quite hold the same power.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez brings us back to a familiar story, but in a way that may excite a new appreciation for The Son of God.

One of the central issues of division among religions is the person of Jesus Christ.  Some disagree about His very existence.  Others simply deny His deity.  But with all the different ideas about who Jesus was and is, does the identity of Christ really matter?  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez reveals the authentic person of Jesus and why it’s so important to understand who He is.

In one corner stands an imposing being with power, influence and wisdom of gigantic portions.  Few people can stand up against an angel!  In the other corner stands a carpenter from the backwoods of Israel, who didn’t seem to exhibit much power when He was nailed to a cross.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explains why Jesus Christ is so much greater than any creature, either in heaven or on earth.
