Making the Most of Daily Bible Study

Every day we make time for the things that matter most.  Whether it’s brushing our teeth, reading the paper, or heading to the gym, we carve out time for the activities we value.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez encourages us to make time a very another important pursuit…pening the Bible and becoming a student of God’s Word!

Making the Most of Daily Bible Study Several times a day, we stop what we’re doing and take time to eat.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with coffee breaks in between, we rarely miss these daily occasions to refuel our bodies.  But we aren’t quite as disciplined about our spiritual eating habits.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez introduces a study called, "Back to the Basics".  As we grow in our relationship with God, it’s important we get the essential nutrition we need.

Managing Your Emotions & Taming Your Tongue Do you realize that in your possession, right now, is a tool that can heal, strengthen, and give life to those around you?  It’s that little muscle in your mouth, commonly called, “the tongue.”  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explores the amazing abilities and benefits of godly communication.  We know the damage words can do.  But what about the good our words can bring?

Managing Your Emotions & Taming Your TongueSticks and stones may break our bones, but often times our words can do far more damage.  The words we use can either build someone up or tear them down.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez is looking in the book of Proverbs for biblical principles to guide our conversations and speech.  We’ll see what God’s Word has to say about replacing our damaging vocabulary with uplifting language instead!

Managing Your Emotions & Taming Your Tongue If someone were to follow you around each day and transcribe each and every one of your conversations, would the resulting volume be an encouraging story worth reading?  Or would it be an incriminating document that you’d want thrown away?  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez helps us take inventory of our words to see if the things that are coming out of our mouths are really worth saying.

Gratitude for Grace & Respect for the King“Wait until your father gets home!”  That was a phrase guaranteed to strike fear in the heart of any child.  It was that loving, but painful, parental punishment that made us think twice about stepping out of line again!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explains that in the same way, our Heavenly Father disciplines His kids.  And it’s God’s loving hand of correction that should cause us to think twice about sin.

Gratitude For Grace & Respect For the King As the leader of the free world, the President of the United States should be treated with a level of respect.  Even his closest confidantes must acknowledge his authority and position.  And if the leaders on earth deserve that kind of respect, how much more the Creator of the universe!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explains that not only should we love God, but there is good reason to fear Him as well!

Gratitude for Grace & Respect for the KingFacing our fears is rarely a pleasant experience.  Whether it’s looking down from a twenty-story skyscraper, watching the doctor approach you with a needle, or even getting rid of a spider in our home, we generally try to avoid the things we fear.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez explains that not all fear causes sweaty palms and knocking knees.

Strategic Rest and a Godly Work EthicFor some, “work” is a curse.  A dreaded chore that must be tolerated.  For others, the job is a relentless pursuit that requires our constant time and attention, to the detriment of other responsibilities.  But as followers of Christ, our attitude towards work should be shaped by the Bible.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez jumps back into the book of Proverbs for the definition of a godly work ethic.  How should you approach your job each day?

Strategic Rest and a Godly Work EthicOf course, the Bible comments on the immaterial parts of our world.  But God’s Word is also chock-full of instructions for the nitty-gritty and routine activities of life as well.  On this editon of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez continues our series called "Wisdom From Proverbs".  Within the pages of this practical book, we’ll find concrete directions for an occupation that most of us find ourselves doing every day; and that’s work.

Strategic Rest & A Godly Work EthicWhich would you consider the more sacred position?  Being a missionary in India or being a bus driver in Indiana?  Does our ordinary job really matter to the Lord?   On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez looks for the answer in the book of Proverbs.  We’ll see what Scripture has to say not only about the value of the work each one of us performs, but why it’s so important to God.
