Would others call your personality fierce? Kimberly Wagner passionately loved Christ and lived life boldly. And when she met and married LeRoy that didn’t change. She had met him a couple of times. But this time he finally “noticed.” In fact, he pointed her out in the crowd and asked her to share her testimony. Dottie McDowell fondly recalls her first date with husband, Josh McDowell, and the short engagement that followed.

Sometimes your love for Christ will demand that you make a choice. And for Dottie, that meant breaking up with her boyfriend of three and a half years due to his ambivalence toward the things of God. She remembers the night she wrote her love a “Dear John” letter and walked it to the mailbox. What would her life be like now, without him? Dottie McDowell talks about her growing faith in Christ as a student at the University of Texas, and the dynamic speaker, Josh McDowell, who would later become a very important part of her life.

All of us have a past, but some family histories are more difficult to remember than others. Today’s guest, Josh McDowell, is redeeming his past by turning it into a motion picture that will inspire and encourage those who see it.  McDowell talks with Dennis Rainey about the making of the film, “Undaunted,” a movie about his life.

After an abusive and horrendously difficult childhood, Josh was bitter and doubtful about Christianity. Who could blame him. But God was about to change his life, and his beliefs, in an amazing way.  Josh McDowell tells how he set out to prove that Christianity was a hoax, and instead came into a relationship with the living God.

God works everything for good, and so it seems when life is easy. But it’s much harder to swallow when life couldn’t get worse. Josh McDowell reminisces about growing up with an abusive, alcoholic father, and talks about the sexual abuse he endured for eight years at the hands of a man hired to help with his parents’ farm.  Reflecting on his past, McDowell explains why he’s thankful for his childhood, despite the difficulties.

We become like the people we spend time with. So what happens then, when you spend time in prayer and Bible study? Good things! Jedd Medefind, President of the Christian Alliance for Orphans, reminds us that Jesus has something good and true and eternal to say if we’ll listen to him and become His apprentice. Jesus never got distracted from his true purpose, and neither should we, if we’re focused on loving God and serving others above all else. Download Transcript

What would Deitrich Bonhoeffer say to the modern Church? In this stirring conclusion, Eric Metaxas makes a startling statement: “God cannot use us if we do not have His joy.” In closing, he cautions Christians about “our joyless Christianity”, as he encourages Christian leaders and the American Church itself to rediscover our joy in Christ as core to our Gospel mission.
