No Perfect Family

November 17, 2014
Life isn't perfect, and neither are families. Elisa Morgan, founder of MOPS  International, (Mothers Of Preschoolers) talks honestly about her parents' sudden divorce when she was five, her mother's alcoholism, and her father's absence. Armed with a heart of faith, Elisa determined to create the perfect intact family once she married and had children of her own. While her efforts still didn't give her the perfect family, learning to forgive the family God gave her was transformative.

It's easy to spot today’s problems--disintegration of the family, divorce, crime, and loss of core values like integrity and trust.  What’s more difficult is to find solutions to these issues.  Pastor and author Crawford Loritts’ two-pronged solution is both simple and novel.  First, live out integrity.  Second, pass it on to the next generation.

Would your spouse describe you as fun-loving? Pastor Ted Cunningham, author of "Fun Loving You," tells of the fun he has making his wife laugh. Once he overcame his fear, however, they began to experience authentic, true joy.

It's Plymouth, Massachusetts, and the Thanksgiving celebration is about to begin. Pilgrims adorned in black hats and buckles are about to sit down to a bountiful feast with their new friends, the Wampanoag Indians. Before them is a table decked with turkeys, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie... This is the Thanksgiving we all imagine, but is this what really happened? History professor Tracy McKenzie and Barbara Rainey take us on a fascinating journey through history to shed light on the real first Thanksgiving and the somewhat curious people we call the Pilgrims.

Pilgrims. Who were they, really? Tracy McKenzie, professor of history at Wheaton College, along with Barbara Rainey, take us back to the 1600's to the village of Scrooby, the birthplace of a sect of the Puritans called the Pilgrims. It was here, they tell us, that the Pilgrims first planned their exodus from England into Holland, and eventually, Massachusetts. Find out more about these people and their incredible journey.
