Loving Your Neighbor Without Being Weird

November 1, 2013
Evangelism sounds so hard. But it doesn’t have to be. Amy Lively, creator of The Neighborhood Café,  encourages listeners to love their neighbors in a whole new way by inviting them into their homes.  Amy recalls the season when God broke her heart for her neighbors and prompted her to start a neighborhood bible study. Resisting at first, she eventually gave in, and what transpired  was life-changing. It is possible, Amy assures us, to love your neighbors without being weird, and today Amy tells you how.

But that little step of faith, and the relationships she developed, made her initial nervousness worth it. Amy shares how anyone can easily reach out with the love of Christ to their neighbors, and perhaps change their neighborhood for good.

Barbara Rainey recalls the moment in her mothering when she realized that her children must be her priority and her art, specifically her water coloring, must be set aside for a season.  But as her children grew and left the nest, Barbara tells how she once again picked up her brush and starting honing her skills through art classes. Her renewed interest had her wondering how she might use her artistic bent for a creative use, and “Ever Thine Home” products and resources were born.

A mother wears a lot of hats. She’s the family grocer, cook, housekeeper, nurse, teacher, and so on.  She is also the family spiritual director and interceder for her family. Mother and author Rachel Jankovic tells how she finds snatches of time during the daily rush of life to offer up prayers for her children.  She reminds moms that it’s okay to pray while cooking or rocking or other chores, and reminds them not to feel guilty if they can’t find time for the perfect devotional time or Bible reading.
