Trump professes the Christian faith but finds rejection from “conservatives” and “conservative Christians.” His favorable rating with Republicans has grown, but his image is not close enough to any of the past GOP nominees. Half of the Republicans wish there was another candidate, other than Trump. Trump’s acceptance and rejection from the evangelical leadership has come from many directions. Of the first well-known evangelical big names to endorse Trump was from Jerry Falwell Jr. Liberty University President compared Donald Trump to biblical leader King David. Falwell also made a statement by mentioning his father’s advice, “When electing a President you are not electing a pastor.” Was Jerry Falwell Sr., a respected evangelical, advice to his son correct? Character does matters in all areas of life.
