What is happening in Ferguson, MO and how are we to interpret the long range consequences? For those who have never lived through civil unrest before it may seem like a bad Hollywood movie. The events in Ferguson, MO are a revelation of America's drowning in sin. Lives and hearts need radical change and healing from all Anger, Resentment, Hatred and Violence. Only a return to God's Word can accomplish this.

There is a high price being paid in Ferguson, Mo., which is a majority African-American suburb of St. Louis and the disturbances that are happening there are no different from other incidents recorded in American history. It is a highly racial atmosphere. Unscrupulous politicians look to cash-in big through other people’s miseries, seize the opportunities to be in the spotlight and continue to fuel areas with high poverty and unemployment levels. All because of misjudgment.

Every day is about our choices, unless we are grounded in God’s Word, like Jesus showed us, we have no other way to check facts whether they are right or wrong, good or evil. We cannot become wise by bypassing the Scriptures. Our choices reflect our moral subjection to God’s ethics or rejection of them. History is clear about man’s struggle to find meaning and purpose on his own and without God, only to have his desire for happiness trashed time after time.

In Satan's temptation to Jesus in the wilderness he offered him the kingdoms of this world if he would worship him. This is absurd because Jesus knew that He is King of kings and Lord of lords so Satan was clearly lying. However, how many Christians take the bait from Satan and worship him in exchange for the material and temporal benefits and pleasures of this world but to do so they must deny the Kingship of Christ in their lives. This is clearly the wrong choice. What happens when Jesus is declared King of kings and Lord of lords in a believer's life?

God commissioned Adam and Eve to administer the earth not Satan. He also gave them a free will to make a choice to obey or not, to be loyal to God or not. Adam made his choice not to obey. Sin entered into the human race and to the entire world. It is sin that dominates man, not Satan. What this means is that demonic influence can only be done through sinful man, to a point. Sinful actions are in check and come to a limit. Make no mistake; sin is a powerful force for destruction, it is well organized internally and manifests externally.

God has absolute power and authority. Satan makes people believe that they can achieve absolute power and authority; by accepting such deception, men become fools because this so-called “wisdom” is demonic. Satan is an expert at knowing how to manipulate man’s hunger for power and material things. By now this should be very clear in America’s condition and the world. Man can never win this battle on his own.

God never intended man to fail; he was created perfect. Why then did God create a tree with devastating effects in spite of offering knowledge of good and evil? Why was this knowledge different from God’s knowledge? Adam and Eve were given a choice. Without free will they would not be free but slaves to be manipulated by God but that is not who He is.

The reason God expects us to learn from history can be summed up like this: human nature is the one making history; their emotions and desires do not change. New discoveries in science and new technology do not change human morality. How we use it is subject to that morality good or bad.

The choices we make have consequences, good or bad. Humans do not enjoy the fruit of bad choices. Ignorance does not exempt us from the sting of bad choices. How many times do we make choices thinking it’s the right thing to do? There are millions of books on any given subject, they all have world-views but how do we know if they provide the right perspective?
