The Meaning of Following Jesus Part 9

June 26, 2009
Through us God offers to the world an alternative society. Have you noticed how fast the American system is becoming Marxist? Those who are timid call it socialist, no it is Marxist and keep an eye on how this administration is controlling more of people’s lives; their kind of change and new society is going to be implemented more by force and coercion than anything else. Christians must prepare to offer an alternative by applying God’s kingdom principles in all areas of life.

Jesus revealed that history is moving forward in a linear way and that progress will reach levels inconceivable to the human mind. Is the church reaching its goals foreordained by God for this generation? What is needed to arrive at God's good pleasure for our times?

The first followers of Christ were also the first generation to understand the importance of linking the past, present and future. They were to teach the following generation how the Kingdom of God is ever increasing over time and making its way reaching into new cultures and nations. Each generation must move forward with better understanding of God's ultimate goal and when one generation or more loses sight of the future another will rise up to pick up where the other left off and carry on with God’s masterplan.

The church was established by Jesus to give continuity to the will of God. Jesus’ presence on earth initiated a transition from the old creation to the dynamics of the new creation. His death and resurrection reaffirmed the reality of God’s continuation of his kingdom. The resurrection of Christ consolidated the authority given to him. This authority was to be delegated to his disciples, the new church. Then came the fall of Jerusalem completing the transition from the old to the new, all revelation was given in order for God’s people to build upon those principles. Do you think we are understanding the bridge of the knowledge of God from the old to the new?

Jesus knew after the day of Pentecost when the Spirit would come upon the disciples they were going to understand everything about the New Covenant church which would replace the old order of scribes and also the priesthood. The disciples would become the new teachers declaring the Word of God as it was revealed in the past and bring it to the new revelation. They were to learn to teach and do exactly as Jesus did with greater authority. The same is still true today.

Jesus declared that God is in control of history and those who are willing to understand the Kingdom of God would be able to discern good things from the past and expect great things in the future.

While Jesus walked this earth he made absolutely sure that his followers understood the knowledge of the Kingdom that he wanted them to know so he taught the multitudes by using parables, parables that even his disciples at times could not understand so he would take special time to explain to them their meaning. We too must make every effort to understand because without knowledge from God's perspective the blessings will simply slip through our fingers and we will frustrate God's plan for us.

The initial calling of Jesus to his disciples was a very interesting one and they responded by joining Jesus to learn from him and to imitate him. They began their schooling in a new era for the human race and especially for God’s people. Many were going to respond to that call of “follow me,” of whom countless numbers, as the time would tell, fell by the wayside and no longer followed him and still others just plainly did not respond to the call. What determines who will persevere and who will drop off?

There is no higher purpose in life than to do God’s will in every area of our lives. To pursue any other goal besides the perfect will of God is senseless, a waste of resources and time, and we only leave a legacy of confusion, despair and destruction. When we leave this world we leave behind our influence, our ideas which will continue to impact others for better or for worse. This is what history reveals. As we consider the present chaos in America, a nation which for the most part professes Christianity, we must ask, does Christian America truly understand the meaning of following Jesus?

Once again European leaders and hundreds of World War II veterans came together on June 6th to commemorate the 65th anniversary of D-Day on the beaches of Normandy. Is there a time when war is necessary? The Bible says there is a time for war in Ecclesiastes 3. What are the guidelines that God can approve for war to insure victory over evil and tyrannical governments?

If we have become new individuals, as Paul told the Colossians, “and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator” (Colossians 3:10) it will not be difficult for us to know how to carry out God's will in our lives. From Genesis to Revelation God's will is revealed for us so we can understand what the will of man is and the consequences; and to know the will of God with all the benefits and responsibilities by virtue of being part of His family, willing to fulfill our purpose for His glory.

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
