The ideas in the foundation of America have been violated because they were not passed on and adhered to. For instance, Jefferson put forth the idea of, "I am for free commerce with all nations, political connection with none." Jefferson was not original in his ideas of “commerce with all”, but “alliance or political connection with none.” God himself forbade the Israelites against any alliances or covenants with pagan nations. "You shall make no covenant with them and their gods. They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me; for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.” (Exodus 23:32-33)

America became the most powerful nation in all of human history because of its foundation. The newly formed nation of the United States was different among the nations of the world. Their experiment was based in self-government, and this all started in 1620 with the arrival of the Pilgrims followed by the Puritans in 1630, who envisioned a society based upon biblical principles. The true meaning of freedom from the Bible is what our forefathers embraced. We must recapture and implement those values once again if America is to be restored. If not, it will collapse into oblivion.

Take notice of the important fact that it is impossible not to be exposed to someone else’s ideas on a daily basis. It is amazing how much information comes to our mind this way and don’t think for a moment it is without effect. An idea is like a seed that can develop when it is nurtured. All the attacks that are hurled at Christianity should be an eye opener that let’s us know how much ground has been lost. The last thing that many Christians should be doing is shrinking back and allowing themselves to be intimidated, this is the time to be courageous, knowledgeable and wise to share our ideas about every subject that trashes our biblical faith.

It makes perfect sense that a society or nation that receives God’s revealed truth bears greater responsibility for her outcome. If God’s people walk in obedience to His law, the result is great, if not, inevitably the result is great destruction. It is time we stop thinking that man controls life and its institutions and begin to change that trend if we want to reverse America’s all-out war within and direct her future toward God’s divine plan.

History tells us, and America should learn this sooner rather than later, before it is too late, that civilizations and their cultures first are shaped by their beliefs, not looking at materialism as the foundation of their purpose in life. When they depart from their moral ideals, triviality and desire for more and better “things” creeps in; a yearning for luxury sets in and the trap is successful. In Christian nations we see the same symptoms with the additional incremental problem of manifesting a “spiritual superiority”, but when we shine the light of God’s Word it reveals no such thing, rather a deep superficiality and religious meaningless rituals. It is time for America to get truly focused if she is to survive.

When individuals and societies are determined to solve problems outside of God’s wisdom they will only generate a vast amount of chaos. The more a nation nurtures evil the more it will sow nothing but destruction. Throwing more money at a problem will not solve the lack of morality in all areas of life. In America, we have replaced sowing seeds of social stability for seeds of instability.

World History is an important teacher, and biblical history should take the center stage for us if we want to know and understand God’s plan for humanity. Any changes to creation's purpose will alter the social outcome for the worse. No person, family, group of individuals or nation can live without law and order. Because man has departed from the only source of law and order they must come up with their own. We must learn from history about the collapse of humanity as the outcome of their internal conflicts produced out of their failed laws that can never produce order, rather they create lawlessness and chaos.

A Christian is commanded, by God’s Word, to support and vote for those that are committed to the biblical principles of civil government. John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, said the following regarding Christian leadership:“Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest, of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.”

The Pilgrims and the Puritans truly set the foundation for what became the United States of America. In 1630 the second wave of Puritan migrants came to these shores led by the pastor leader and lawyer John Winthrop. The Pilgrim population grew and pursued their vision of a nation governed by God according to His revealed Word; they understood the rule of Jesus Christ as encompassing all aspects of culture. There were no areas considered to be secular, everything they did was unto the Lord and everything was sacred from work to leisure. Next time you hear someone criticizing godly Christians as being legalistic like the Puritans, keep in mind that the Pilgrims and Puritans engaged in enjoying reading of books, making music, drinking beer and rum, swimming, ice skating, hunting, fishing, archery, and bowling. All activities were done decent and in order as not to be offenders of God and His moral law. Do you long for that America again? Be careful who you vote for.
