God's Law in Modern Times Part 1

November 27, 2009
In choosing Israel to become a model to the nations, God was revealing to the world His true design for human development. This design is established in the books of the Law for all times, so it was a sad day when we began to hear from the pulpits that the Law of God is completely outdated. Is it? We are now reaping the terrible consequences of that belief.

A correct thanksgiving tradition began dating back beyond the pilgrims and Puritans, all the way back to thousands of years into the history of the Hebrew people. The Bible reveals what the practice of thanksgiving meant to the children of Israel. Thanksgiving was a time of great celebration with fasting and feasting to praise God; expressed with songs and great joy. In modern Israel, some locations have this burst of joyful celebration even in the streets. Yes, the Bible has many instances of calling people for a celebration, but also for deep national soul-searching.

When the church loses sight of God's determination to create a holy nation from among His chosen people, it is repeating the same mistakes as Israel of old. It begins to mislead God's people was due to the great corruption that begins to creep in upon society because it has abandoned God's ethics, “…the holy race has mixed itself with the peoples of the lands. And in this faithlessness the hand of the officials and chief men has been foremost" (Ezra 9:2).

Israel, as a holy nation, was to be a model nation and the recipient and transmitter of God's knowledge. In other words, the world would come to know God through His chosen people of the Old Testament. In the New Testament those who are born again through Christ are to be the clear manifestation to our world of who God is. He is still depending on His chosen to get the job done for His master plan in our generation. Let's purpose in our hearts to not disappoint Him.

God's demands on His ethics do not change just because man decides to legislate laws that go against His ethics. When Jesus prayed "your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" this prayer will in time be answered because he definitely prayed within the Father's will. So, whether we believe the guidelines in the Bible set out for our living or not, is besides the point. God's demands of His ethics will be implemented. The sooner we understand them and comply the better it will be for all.

Jesus' prayer which included "your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" clearly declares God's goal for us. The more we obey God's commands, the more we become sons and daughters of His. This is the reason why the apostles continued Christ’s example, not only in their personal lives, but also exhorting all those who wanted to be part of God's great holy nation. God's requirements haven't changed.

Throughout Scripture God reveals that we are to live moral and ethical lives according to the standards He revealed in His law. These standards will help us to reject and conquer evil morals that so easily dominate human nature and culture. Through the application of God's standards to all areas of life, we will please the Father's heart and so fulfill His perfect will.

As a believer, have you ever thought of yourself as being a priest? Yet that is what God has made us before Him. God's intended goal for the reigning priesthood of all believers is the relevance for order according to His law. Therefore, we are God's extended hand to a lost and dying world and also a vessel of honor in the family of believers.

God tells us "...But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." (1 Peter 2:5,9). If God places such importance in His relationship with Him should we only dedicate left over time to it?

How important is our relationship with God? Can we afford not to make it a priority? Who else besides ourselves gets affected when we distance ourselves from our God? In what areas do we experience the negative consequences as a result of neglecting our walk with the Lord? All of these are very valid questions that should be in the forefront of concern for every believer and answered satisfactorily.

What is God's perspective of the priesthood? In the Old Testament we know that righteous Abel sacrificed animals before God. However there is no indication that God had ordained priests yet, so we know that every man had to be his own priest, and that function fell upon the head of the household as was the case of Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Job. God told Moses "...you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation." (Ex. 19). In the New Testament, Peter records that we are to be a chosen generation, a royal priesthood a holy nation, meaning every believer is to have this function as part of his mission for the kingdom of God, no exceptions!

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
