Church and Politics Part 2

September 28, 2010
We hear that the government is broken and needs fixing, we also hear that the family is broken and needs to be fixed. It is time that we acknowledge that the church is broken and needs to be fixed. Do you agree with that statement?

We hear so much that the church should not be engaged in politics, that there is a wall of separation between church and state and that churches may lose their tax-exempt status if they endorse a political candidate due to the gagging of the church imposed in 1954 and how the church passively accepted to be silenced during political seasons. What most people, especially Christians, need to know is that without the involvement of the churches in politics during colonial times the United States of America would never have existed.

As believers in Christ we must develop our life according to God's design. God is only too willing to supply everything we need according to His riches in Christ Jesus. God has gifted us in such a way that He will never lose. But if we ignore those gifts and fail to use them we are the losers. Let us commit to show forth God's excellency.

The church should inspire in every believer the kind of faith that Christ displayed during His public life and ministry. He was not showing off, rather, he was revealing what faith should be and do in and through us. “He said to them, "..For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you" (Matthew 17:20).

It is important for God's people to be equipped with gifts coming from the Father above in order for Jesus’ followers to transform the world. We can be assured that the same faith that Jesus displayed in His public life is the same faith every one of His followers should manifest. You must never underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit in you.

Believers are to understand all the riches that God bestowed upon His people through the gifts he imparted to them, gifts beyond their imagination. The purpose of these gifts is not for self-exaltation or self-gratification but rather to promote God’s government in the world. "…Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high" (Luke 24:46-49).

All of us have come across people we greatly admire for their talents, abilities and assets they posses. Many we even elevate to godlike status, hence the celebrity culture that is so prevalent in America. It is one thing to acknowledge the talents of others, but we must keep all things in proper perspective. Who do you want to pattern your life after? There is only one who truly qualifies to be our model, Jesus. He was unique but so are we. Make an effort to discover your gifts to benefit yourself and to serve others.

Born-again believers are called to travel on the same road of life, the same direction of problem solving, facing the same struggles, overcoming similar sins in their hearts in pursuit of the call to perfect themselves inwardly and outwardly as they simultaneously move forward in transforming the culture with the message of the good news of the Kingdom of God applying the full counsel of the Scriptures in all areas of life.

We are to edify the body of Christ with the qualities that God has invested in each of us. The times greatly demand good leadership in all areas of life and God's people were commanded to be "salt and light" to a dying world. The great denominational divisions have created huge gaps making unity impossible under these circumstances. We must understand how we can build one another up that we may arrive at the point of the needed agreement to arrive at unity.

This is God's instruction when it comes to the unity in the Body of Christ: “With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all” (Ephesians 4:2-6).

What could have meant so much in the minds and the lives of those terrorists to cause them to commit suicide in such a horrific way and to cause the deaths of thousands of innocent victims? Ideas have consequences of great and lasting impact. The repercussions of that event continue pounding at the national life of the United States of North America and the world. What can we continue to learn from something so ominous?

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
