Be Perfect! Part 7

June 15, 2016
God knew about Cain’s decadent life, internal and external, and this was the exact reason for rejecting his offering. God is not in the business of political correctness, compromise, or looking the other way and turning a blind eye. Even though Cain was conceived in sin, he knew right from wrong, and he chose to live wrong. Cain’s reaction corroborated the reason for God’s rejection. God scrutinizes motives and actions.

Humanity is a unique creation of God; they have the divine image and the sinful condition of humanity doesn’t make them any less valuable. Genesis 5:3 restates Genesis 1:26 as the continuation of the “image,”, which brings special blessings that are now acquired through sonship. However, sin did damage humanity, and they became rebellious towards God; their full capacity was greatly diminished and new sanctions were put in place. God’s grace of salvation helps us to regain a right standing in our relationship with God and with each other.

At the creation of man, God said, “ “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness...” Is it important to know what the “image” and “likeness” is all about if we are to understand the uniqueness of human life. What is the identity of the Creator? Throughout the centuries there are various explanations in relation to the words in this passage: “let us,” “our image” and “our likeness.” We will refrain from exploring the maze of those views and concentrate on the most important aspect of the plural pronouns and the singular pronoun. Read Genesis 1:26-28, it reveals the unity and plurality of God.

All human beings get uncomfortable when they realize that they have to make changes but may not have all the knowledge of where it is going to take them. Nonetheless, Jesus said we must be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect. If Jesus said people must be perfect as God the Father is it's because it is achievable and it is the desire of human nature to acquire that perfection either consciously or subconsciously. Humans are different than any other created beings because they are created in God’s image, this knowledge and understanding sets them apart from those who have an inaccurate view of life, the world, and the universe. Lacking the true knowledge and wisdom makes it impossible for a better life and a better world so it is to our advantage that the sooner we make the changes to perfect ourselves the better it will be for us.

How many times you have heard it said, or maybe said it yourself: “It makes perfect sense,” or “practice makes perfect,” maybe even when something meets your expectation you say, “this is perfect”. There are many usages to affirm that something is “perfect.” On the other hand, when people want to justify the imperfection in their character and actions, we also hear: “Nobody is perfect.” Such affirmation is to be expected from anyone that lacks that knowledge, which leads to perfection, since no human is really at peace knowing he or she is missing something that will cause them to miss out on their life’s purpose or a fuller life. So, what course should imperfect humans take?

Before anyone can even consider Jesus’ assertion for us to "Be Perfect" they must first decide if life and everything we see was created by a mind and actions of someone capable of doing it. Or, if all things came into existence not as the work of divine action rather the causes of nature. Or do all things exist just because they originated from nothing?  Most of the people of the 21st century have been convinced without a shred of evidence that the universe came into existence out of nothing and that humans are descendants of monkies. Evolution has become the dominant religion as proclaimed by humanists, who deny the existence of the Divine Creator. Is it any wonder the perfection eludes them?

Jesus said, “You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matthew 5:48 (ESV) To us, Jesus’ command seems impossible to comprehend! How can any human be perfect? And to top it off, the perfection has to match that of God’s! For us, this perfection is difficult to understand with our natural mind, nonetheless, this is what Jesus told His disciples and the multitudes that were listening to His teachings at the Sermon on the Mount, (Matthew 5:1-7:29). To say the least, we have much to learn as we dissect Jesus' statement.

Confusion among God's people must be eliminated because God is not the author of it. When we remember that God controls history, He can even use evil men to do His bidding. We need to do our homework and examine who is the best candidate that will give biblical Christians a chance to work harder to steer the nation back to godliness. This means we need to do our homework and find out where candidates stand on social and fiscal issues. We do our best and leave the final outcome to Him.

Immorality has always been the main issue for all nations that have collapsed throughout history. We in the United States have been on a slippery slope of immorality for a long time. The Christian leaders and the Christian population of 1787 dropped the ball by allowing the removal of God’s requirements for office and for not pushing back on man’s law, which declared the Constitution the "supreme law of the land". Most of the Christian denominations also rejected the moral law of God as a binding agreement between God and His people and morality began to go down hill up until today. Are we witnessing the collapse of the United States?

In this country, from 1620 to 1787, the word “supreme” in this country was attributed only to God, but in the Constitutional Convention they declared the supremacy of the Constitution, which opened the door to where we are today. In the minds of the citizens, this made the law of God submissive to the law of WE THE PEOPLE. How is it working for us?  This problem with man invalidating the law of God is not unique to the U.S., in Jesus’ time; the Jewish leadership did the same by putting their doctrines and traditions above God’s law. How did that work for them?

Trump professes the Christian faith but finds rejection from “conservatives” and “conservative Christians.” His favorable rating with Republicans has grown, but his image is not close enough to any of the past GOP nominees. Half of the Republicans wish there was another candidate, other than Trump. Trump’s acceptance and rejection from the evangelical leadership has come from many directions. Of the first well-known evangelical big names to endorse Trump was from Jerry Falwell Jr. Liberty University President compared Donald Trump to biblical leader King David. Falwell also made a statement by mentioning his father’s advice, “When electing a President you are not electing a pastor.” Was Jerry Falwell Sr., a respected evangelical, advice to his son correct? Character does matters in all areas of life.

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
