America's Birth and the Faith of its Founders Part 7

“…our preaching will bear its legitimate fruits. If immorality prevails in the land, if there is a decay of conscience, if the public press lacks moral discrimination, if the church is degenerate and worldly, if the world loses its interest in religion, if Satan rules in our halls of legislation, if our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it. Let us not ignore this fact, my dear brethren; but let us lay it to heart, and be thoroughly awake to our responsibility in respect to the morals of this nation.” –Charles Finney

What role did pastors play in the American Revolution? "The ministers of the Revolution were, like their Puritan predecessors, bold and fearless in the cause of their country. No class of men contributed more to carry forward the Revolution and to achieve our independence than did the ministers. . . . [B]y their prayers, patriotic sermons, and services [they] rendered the highest assistance to the civil government, the army, and the country." --B. F. Morris, HISTORIAN, 1864

Should people of faith be on the sidelines when it comes to politics and our government. This was not so in the American Revolution when the pastors were having such a great impact that the British targeted church pastors for preaching liberty under God. The British named the courageous pastors that sided with the patriots’ cause for independence “The Black Robed Regiment”. (A reference to the black robes they wore). The British also blamed the Black Regiment for American Independence.

History is a subject that many ignore. We must understand the past to know what to do in the present and in the future. What role did religion play in the founding of America? “Religion played a major role in the American Revolution by offering a moral sanction for opposition to the British--an assurance to the average American that revolution was justified in the sight of God”. —The Library of Congress

"Religion played a major role in the American Revolution by offering a moral sanction for opposition to the British--an assurance to the average American that revolution was justified in the sight of God. …Ministers served the American cause in many capacities during the Revolution: as military chaplains, as penmen for committees of correspondence, and as members of state legislatures, constitutional conventions and the national Congress. Some even took up arms, leading Continental troops in battle."- Library of Congress.

People, in the majority, do not believe that it is important to know history, but without the past, the present is not understood, much less the future. Most likely you have heard it said that those who forget their history are doomed to repeat it. Moses urged the people to remember the past so they could be knowledgeable of it and be motivated by it.

It is very well known that many nations in the world imitate the United States of America in their system of government and culture. What if America had never existed? What kind of civilization would we have by now? History doesn't happen by chance. What is our responsibility before God and the world when we have clear lost our way?

The way we understand the world shapes the way we think and live, that is where we draw moral values, which dictate our actions. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life to keep us on the straight and narrow path that leads to successful lives without compromising God’s truth. The challenge before every Christians is to be the healing instrument for the nations.

Seeking popularity opens the mind to look for and follow what is acceptable in culture in an effort to fit right in; those are the trappings of compromise. Tragically, when the bulk of Christianity begs the world for acceptance, the desire to change culture under God’s principles, goes out the window.

Why do you think it’s so easy for the majority of Christians to compromise their faith when it comes to social pressure? Compromise is another word for concession. If even the ungodly, when they are pressuring Christians to conform to the liberal/progressive ideals, use Jesus’ love and compassion to add weight to their “convincing” argument, why do Christians cower?

Wind, Spirit and Fire were manifestations in the Day Pentecost. Throughout the Old Testament Scriptures, God manifested His presence in a way that the natural mind perceives as a phenomenon. The fire manifested as tongues of fire above the head of all who were in the upper room was a phenomenon that represented the Spirit of God—Acts 2:4 “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit”

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
