Religion tends to address things on the outside, but leave the heart alone. God wants our hearts. We are to reflect the image of God.

Jesus is concerned with our speech that it be simply truthful. Truth is an attribute of God and should be an attribute of God's people. Also, Jesus wants us to be free from retaliation and revenge. We must be willing to forgive just as God has forgiven us. Jesus takes this to a completely unnatural level as we are called to love our enemies. Eventually, we must go as far as to not let our right hand know what our left hand is doing as we attempt to do good deeds. That is, we are to do what God demands and leave it at that.
