The Bible claims that we are made in the image of God. It would stand to reason that we should see some reflection of that image. We do. A vital part of the image of God that lies deep in the human heart is fatherhood. We earthly fathers are fallible, faulty and feeble at times, but God is the perfect father. It is in knowing God as Father, and growing in our relationship with him, that we earthly fathers can more fully live up to the image of God within us.

It is no accident that Jesus began his model prayer with these words: “Our Father...” This prayer marked a revolution that would be ignited in the hearts of all who would come to God through Jesus Christ. God would become their Father. The doorway into a new relationship would be opened wide for all people.
