To our faithful readers,

We encounter some powerful thoughts as the Lord meets with us each day this week.

          Ezekiel tells us The glory of the Lord filled the House  (43:5). How blessed we are that we’re surrounded each day by the glory of God. Even harder to understand is, as a born again Child of God, you and I are indwelled by this same God of Glory. You and I are His modern-day temple! My prayer for myself is that I will be a fit habitation for Him and that I will respond in reverence and worship to His presence. 

We begin in Daniel as we recall that the people of Judah had been conquered by the Babylonians and taken into captivity. Daniel was probably a teenager when first captured, and wrote the details of his life during that captivity. His life encouraged not only his countrymen, but us, to continue to remain faithful despite the circumstances. 

We will read of the rescue of the three faithful young men thrown into the fiery furnace (Chap. 3),  the writing on the wall of impending doom to the sinful king (Chap. 5); Daniel’s faithfulness to God despite threats to his life and the night he spent in the den of hungry lions (Chap. 6). The last chapters continue Daniel’s message of encouragement with prophecies of Israel’s future victories over her enemies till the time of the end (Chap. 12).

Daniel’s is a message of ultimate hope. He encourages us to worship God even under the most difficult circumstances and reminds us that the Lord my God . . . great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love Him . . . . To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgive-nesses, though we have sinned against thee (9:4,9).

Join us in thanking and praising God for the privilege of reading His Word and pray that His Spirit will continue to encourage and guide  us in our daily conversation and communication with others.
