“Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed” (Psalm 112:1-2).
In this message, preached on Father’s Day 2011, reference is made to a post on Phil Cooke’s blog in which he suggests that fathers should disconnect to reconnect. He writes:
“Mobile devices, computers and social media are wonderful things indeed. They’ve transformed our lives and our world in countless positive ways. But make no mistake while we’re more connected than ever (and maybe because we’re more ‘connected’ than ever), we’re more disconnected from our families.”
So he suggests that on Father’s Day perhaps fathers should try to “disconnect your digital devices for 24 hours and reconnect with your family.”
Certainly that would be a good start for fathers who have neglected their duties to get back on track.
And in our message we are reviewing the biblical principles which must also be applied for a man to be a good father. Our text says that the man is blessed who fears the Lord and delights in His commandments and a part of that blessing is to see his children living a godly life.
