As we look at this text, we first consider discipleship. There were some disciples who followed Jesus for a time but were not genuine; so we look at the marks of a true disciple.

Next we look at freedom. The ministry of Jesus brought freedom and He declares that the truth will make you free.

Finally we consider bondage. The Jews to whom Jesus was speaking claimed never to have been in bondage but Jesus points out that the one who continues in sin is in fact in soul-bondage.
