"My chains fell off, my heart was free; I rose, went forth, and followed thee." Those words, familiar to many Christians, express the song of every heart that knows the reality of God's forgiveness in Jesus Christ. What is our greatest need as sinners, above all others? To be forgiven! What sets our hearts free? To know the reality of forgiveness, and to gain power from God to forgive others in his name. At the heart of the Christian life is this: forgiven and forgiving. How are we forgiven? Why are we forgiven? How much are we forgiven? How are we made free to forgive as God has forgiven us? These questions, and their answers from the Word of God, lie at the center of Reformation theology. Their relevance endures in all times, and their significance to our spiritual life gives this topic perennial value. Join us as we find forgiveness in the hands of a perfectly just God, and map the contours of forgiveness as the great theme of our Lord Jesus' saving work.
