LISTEN TO THIS WEEK'S BROADCAST
This Week on ViewPoint Sunday, September 27, 2009
Have you ever underestimated what it would take to actually seize an opportunity or overcome a challenge in your life? I know I have. Hi, this is Jim Lyon. Not too long ago, just a few days ago in fact, I grossly underestimated what it would take to climb a mountain. A mountain in Washington state. I was not prepared for all that would be required of me to get to the top of Mt. Adams. This week on ViewPoint I'd like to share with you, together along with some of the other guys who made the climb with me, some of the life lessons we've learned. That climb has changed us for the better.

BROADCAST ARCHIVES
Have you ever sat by your window, waiting for the mailman to appear and walk up to your mailbox; or maybe for a mail truck to drive by the end of your driveway? Join Jim Lyon and Jennifer Wilson this week on ViewPoint as they continue the series called "The Mailbox," where they explore the power and wonder of receiving something addressed to us personally. And as they do they're studying a little letter in the New Testament that speaks exactly to the hear and now, it's called 3 John.
Do you ever run out to the mailbox hoping to find a letter, only to be disappointed? Join Jim Lyon and Jennifer Wilson this week on ViewPoint as we talk about letters. The letters that come into our mailboxes at home and the letters that God has sent us in the Scripture. We especially want to introduce you to one very important tiny little letter that can speak right into your life, right here, right now.
Safe and secure - can you imagine what it would be like to have no address to call home and to wonder from where you would get your next meal? Join Jim Lyon and Jennifer Wilson this week on ViewPoint as we introduce you to someone who spends every day of his life on the street helping, healing, and speaking into the lives of those who feel very unsafe and very insecure. It's Church on the Street - this week on ViewPoint.
I know there are people who imagine that the Bible simply is not relevant—it's an ancient book, written in an ancient time, in a language we can't understand. But oh, that's so not true. Join Jim Lyon and Kimberly Majeski this week on ViewPoint as they visit the Bible again and go back thousands of years to find wisdom for today - wisdom about how we can feel safe and secure in a world of chaos, unraveling all around us. From Deuteronomy to the New Testament, you can know how to be safe and secure.
"I don't know about you, but sometimes I'm not sure I feel very safe or very secure. Hi, This is Jim Lyon. In the world in which we live there have been many rugs pulled out from under us. There's the banking crisis, the economic crisis, the healthcare crisis, there are international crisis, there are terrorist threats - how can we know safety, how can we know security?" Join Jim Lyon and Kimberly Majeski this week on ViewPoint as they talk about the reality of safety and security and how it can be found. "You can find it and so can I."
Sometimes things just happen - the car breaks down, our bodies break down; there's an unexpected expense and then what? We pull out our check book or a credit card. Join Jim Lyon and Kimberly Majeski this week on ViewPoint as we continue the series "Safe and Secure." This week once more we'll talk about money. We'll talk about how you can make a plan, so that when the unexpected happens you'll be safe and secure.
Money! Do you ever talk about it? Do you ever think about it? Are you ever haunted by it? Join Jim Lyon and Kimberly Majeski this week on ViewPoint as we start a new series called "Safe and Secure." When you think about your own safety, your own security, money comes right up front and center. We have a guest this week - someone who has learned how not to allow her money manage her, but how to master it. And in that, there is safety.

Have you ever described a challenge or opportunity in your life with the phrase, "Well, that's a tall mountain to climb!" Hi, this is Jim Lyon. A few days ago, I didn't just climb a mountain figuratively, I actually climbed one. It's called Mt. Adams, in Washington state, just a hair shorter and in the shadow of Mt. Rainier. I had to put on my cramp-ons, carry up a backpack, and scale the glacier. It was transformational, and this week on ViewPoint I want you to meet some of the guys who climbed with me. We want to tell you what we've learned about God.
"Hi, this is Jim Lyon, your host on ViewPoint. With me today, also Jennifer Wilson. JJ if you could name one of the most remarkable women that you've met in the last year who would it be?" "Patrice Turner." "Patrice Turner, and why?" "She has written a beautiful book, which is her story, "Muslim to Minister.'" She grew up in the Islamic faith, and she's now a Christian who preaches the Gospel. You'll meet her this week on ViewPoint.
If you think about the black American Muslim tradition centered in Chicago, what comes to mind? Join Jim Lyon and Jennifer Wilson this week on ViewPoint as they introduce you to someone who was raised in that tradition - someone who was strictly observant, but someone also who found her way into the arms of Christ and now preaches the Gospel—Patrice Turner. Her story will inspire and transform.
