As a believer matures in the faith, he or she comes to realize that salvation is not so much a result of our seeking God as it is the result of God choosing us first. We'll learn that, if God had not done this, none of us would ever have chosen Him. Please stay with us.
Series: Children of an Awesome God
Only a Christian can be certain that all of life is heading toward a future glory. That's why a believer can know that all things, even the bad things, work together for good for those who love God. For a challenging message on a famous Bible verse, please stay with us.
Series: Children of an Awesome God
It's tough to be optimistic when slogging through life's tough times. Some people try to grin and bear it; others crack under the pressure. But the Christian can have a perspective that makes enduring our troubles possible: a perspective of a future glory that makes our present suffering infinitesimal in comparison.
Series: Children of an Awesome God
How would you feel if you got a letter saying that an unknown benefactor had died, leaving you ten million dollars? You were an heir to a fortune, and did not know it. Well, that's exactly what you are as a child of God. In the book of Romans, we read: "The Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs...joint heirs with Christ."
Series: Children Of An Awesome God
When the economy is tanking, we may not find much encouragement in our surroundings. Many of us are fearful for the future. But for the Christian, this is a good reminder that our real security and treasure lies in the world to come. This is the teaching we find in the book of Romans, teaching that can transform our outlook as it changes our lives.
Series: Children Of An Awesome God
When summer comes, most of us experience hot temperatures, and enjoy cool drinks to allay our thirst. As much as we need water for our bodies, we need God for our souls. Israel's King David went through some desperate times in his life, times during which all that could sustain him was an equally desperate need for God.
Series: Selections from the Psalms
It's tough walking on a trampoline. With no secure footing, you do your best just to stay upright. The same is true in life. Without a sure foundation, the ups and downs we face can toss us to and fro like leaves in the wind. What we need is some solid ground to walk on, and today we'll find it. Stay with us.

If the Lord brought a revival of repentance to a city, most of God's people would rejoice. But not Jonah. He felt double-crossed...God withheld the judgment Jonah had prophesied against Ninevah. Today: God teaches a lesson to a man who still rebelled even after surviving a fish's belly.
Series: Brokenness
Some believers will only obey God after He teaches them a lesson the hard way. Jonah finally went to Ninevah, a little the worse for wear after three days inside a fish. Even then, the prophet of God was not happy that wicked Ninevites might repent. Today: part three in the saga of an unwilling servant of God.
Series: Brokenness
They say there are no atheists in foxholes. Another place without atheists is in the belly of a great fish. Jonah found himself in a really tight place, and here he prayed like he'd never prayed before.
Series: Brokenness
Ask a farmer and he'll tell you that mules can be stubborn. But none of God's creations is as stubborn as mankind. Amazingly, even redeemed men and women try to resist His will. Today, we'll meet a prophet of God who was as stubborn as a mule.
Series: Brokenness
There's no question that the moral fabric of our culture is disintegrating. Marriage is under attack as same-sex partners demand the rights that have always been accorded to heterosexuals. The gay rights agenda is changing our school curriculums and is now a major factor in our national political debate. How should believers deal with this?
For many Christians, worship is equivalent to celebration. Meditation and reflection have given way to watching others perform. The Bible gives us clear guidance on how to worship the Lord. Surprisingly, one of the ways we're to do it is to simply sit quietly and "know that He is God." Today: we'll study another component of what it takes to worship Him acceptably. Listen with us.
Series: Disciplines Of The Soul
Some people think worshipping God is all about how they feel when worshipping. But rather than ask "Did I like the worship service?" our chief concern ought to be "Was God pleased with the worship service?" The Bible explains how God wants to be worshipped, and how we're to approach Him when we gather together. Listen with us.
Series: Disciplines Of The Soul
Many people turn to prayer only during times of crisis. As we've all heard, "There are no atheists in foxholes." But prayer is a key component of a growing Christian life, and in the Bible we find examples for prayer that we can follow, examples that can transform our private moments with God. Listen with us.
Series: Disciplines Of The Soul
As a culture, we're in desperate need of discipline...in our schools, in our churches...in our personal lives. No athlete wins without discipline. In the same way, no Christian can win in life's race without it. Today: take a first step toward getting your life under God's control. Listen with us.
Series: Disciplines Of The Soul
The media has convinced many Americans that unless they buy more things, they'll never be happy. But unseen by the media are the thousands of Christians who know that this life is but a shadow of a life to come, and that spreading the gospel is far more important than padding the retirement account. Today: a challenge from Jesus himself on developing a hunger...a deep desire for people worldwide to come to know Him as Savior. Listen with us.
How is it that a shoe salesman with a grade-school education could eventually preach to enormous crowds on two continents? The only explanation: God chose to use a simple man to reach vast multitudes with the gospel. One day, D. L. Moody heard these words: "The world has yet to see what God can do with a man wholly consecrated to Him." He then vowed to be that man. Today: how God honored that vow.
Series: D.L. Moody Hero Of Faith
Over a century ago, those who sought opportunity in America looked to the west. Among them was a young man named Dwight Lyman Moody, who in his youth had no idea what God was going to do through him. Mr. Moody came from Boston to Chicago to make his fortune. He ended up filling the treasure house of heaven with people won to Christ, and then founding both the Moody Church and the Moody Bible Institute.
Series: D.L. Moody Hero Of Faith
Another Independence Day marks America's birthday. While some hail increased government activism, others fear that our democratic underpinnings are crumbling away into a new era of tyranny. They see hard-won freedoms melting away, as a war is being lost without a shot being fired. Many are now asking: "Is God on America's Side?"
