Our culture has changed quite a bit from the days of "Father Knows Best." Now, doubts are raised as to whether father knows anything and as to whether or not he is even necessary at all. But, all the statistics indicate otherwise. In the message "Father Power," two fathers and friends, Pastor Marc and veteran missionary, Bill Hughes, team up together to talk about the importance of fatherhood and share from their combined experiences of raising ten children.
Everywhere you turn, there they are...smiling at you from billboards, acting in your favorite movies, working beside you, or just walking down the street. They're the beautiful people - the ones that are blessed with straight teeth, beautiful eyes, perfect complexions, and great physiques. Maybe you're one of them. Or, maybe you wish you were. Either way, beauty can become an issue...it can even be a curse. In the message, "Beauty and the Beast", we'll look at the challenges of living in a beauty obsessed culture and how to avoid the curse.
We live in an amazing time - the whole world has suddenly become available to us at our fingertips through the wonders of the internet. Many refer to this new world as cyberspace. It is convenient, exciting, helpful, informative, and dangerous. It can be a tremendous tool or, as we have witnessed, the cause of the downfall of individuals and families. In the message, "The World At Your Fingertips," we will look at this fascinating new world in the light of the ancient and timeless Word of God and give some practical advice on how to live with it.
The Bible is amazing! Although it is an ancient book, it's truths are timeless and just as relevant for today as they were when they were first written. In the message "Media 101" (taken from Psalm 101) we will look at the challenges that we, as believers, face with modern media and gain wisdom from an ancient text as to how to meet them.
Without a doubt, the debate on the issue of homosexuality is the most challenging debate of our times. Our culture is divided into many fragments as to where to draw the line on the issue, and as to whether or not a line should be drawn at all. Hostilities have been exchanged between extremist Christians and radical homosexuals...and the debate seems to be heating up. What does the Bible teach? Is homosexuality a sin? And, if so...is there a way to show the homosexual community the love AND truth of God without being mean-spirited and condemning? In the message "Men, Women, and Others" we will explore the possibilities.
What do you do when science and the Bible seem to contradict each other? How do you reconcile the differences between scientific knowledge and the inspired Word of God? Who's right when they disagree? To the believer, the answer may seem simple. God is right and scientists are wrong. But is not God the creator of the universe and of all that is found in true science? In the message, "Science and the Bible," we'll look at some input on what to do when the two do not seem to match up and we'll address the need for engaging the scientific community with grace and wisdom.
