The God Who Sees -- Pt 2
11/27/2008 - Thursday
There are times in life called desert seasons-- seasons when we feel lonely, discouraged and abandoned by everyone, even God. Today Pastor Steve continues to tell the desert experience of Hagar who literally was lonely, discouraged and abandoned by everyone... except God. In today's message, "The God Who Sees", we get a clearer picture of the God who never leaves us and who even chases after us when we run away.

The God Who Sees -- Pt 1
11/26/2008 - Wednesday
In the story about Hagar, we learn numerous character traits about God. Who would've thought that through a story about a slave we can learn so much about the character of God? Or perhaps our thinking is way off... maybe we shouldn't be so surprised that God's true character is revealed as He takes care of "the least of these." Stay tuned to Life Lessons for Pastor Steve's message, "The God Who Sees Part 1."

Spiritual Parents -- Pt 1
11/24/2008 - Monday
Today on Life Lessons, as Pastor Steve continues through the book of Genesis, he'll look at how God made Abraham and Sarah the "spiritual" parents of a great family of believers. We'll see how the principle is still true today-- we also can be "spiritual" parents by nurturing young believers. God wants us to invest the things we've learned into others.

The Truth About Tithing -- Pt 2
11/20/2008 - Thursday
We don't have to be generous with our money; we aren't required to put an envelope in the offering plate. Then why do it? Today, as Pastor Steve is taking us through the book of Genesis, we come to the amazing story where Abraham gives a tithe to Melchizedek, the high priest of God. This is before the law! Somehow Abraham knew God was his ultimate source and he couldn't help but give. Have you had this realization? Or do you still need to wake up to that fact? Today's message tells "The Truth About Tithing". It's a timely message for those of us who are facing uncertainties in our finances.

The Truth About Tithing -- Pt 1
11/19/2008 - Wednesday
If you look at a timeline of biblical events you'll see that Abraham tithed before the Old Testament law of tithing was written. The law wasn't the reason he gave. And since we are no longer under the law we aren't required to give either. So why would a new covenant person choose to tithe? Pastor Steve answers these questions and shows us the heart of a true disciple in his message, "The Truth About Tithing."

What does it mean that the Lord is our source? Today on Life Lessons, as we look at the generosity of Abraham, we'll see if we truly believe this and truly understand what it means, we will live differently. No longer will we need to fight for all we've got; no longer will we need to be tight-fisted. We can and will be set free to be generous and to lead peaceful lives. Stay tuned for Pastor Steve's message, "What Generous People Know."

Examining Our Motives -- Pt 3
11/14/2008 - Friday
God sees people very differently than we do. We look at appearance and actions, but God looks at our motives. He sees not only what people do, but He knows why they do it. This knowledge plays heavily into how He deals with each person. If you ever feel like God deals unfairly with you today's message will help you see He knows exactly what He's doing... and it's in your best interest!

Examining Our Motives -- Pt 2
11/13/2008 - Thursday
God, in His infinite grace and mercy, delights in molding us into the men and women we're called to be. And in His infinite wisdom and knowledge, He knows exactly what needs to be done and when it needs to be done to finish his "work of art." How cooperative-- not how perfect-- we are in this process makes all the difference in the world. Our motives are far more important to God than our actions. Today on Life Lessons Pastor Steve shows us how "He who began a good work in you will continue to perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus."

Examining Our Motives -- Pt 1
11/12/2008 - Wednesday
You can do the wrong things for the right reason. You can do the right things for the wrong reason. And the One who made us knows our motives even better than we do! Today on Life Lessons we'll see that God cares more about why we do something than what we do and how He deals with us accordingly.

Digging Wells -- Pt 3
11/11/2008 - Tuesday
Abraham tended to "lean on his own understanding". How often do we seem to have no other option but to throw in the towel? Like Abraham, we "lean on our own understanding" and take matters into our own hands. Today on Life Lessons Pastor Steve shows us a better way in his message "Digging Wells." God can and will provide "rivers in the desert"? If you are tempted to pull up your stakes but know God has called you to the job, the people, the place you are right now, be sure to hear these encouraging words.

Digging Wells -- Pt 2
11/10/2008 - Monday
When the going gets tough, the tough get going. That's not always true. Last time we learned it definitely wasn't true for Abraham-- he never should have left the Promised Land when the famine hit. If he would have waited on God, He would have seen the water was right beneath his feet! How often do we make impulsive decisions based on the lack of provision? What if God has "rivers in the desert" ready for us to tap into? Today on Life Lessons Pastor Steve encourages us to keep on trusting God while waiting for unseen resources when our circumstances look grim.

Digging Wells -- Pt 1
11/7/2008 - Friday
Have you ever felt forced to move away from a place God called you because your resources ran dry? That's exactly what happened to Abraham. Because of a famine, he and his family left the Promised Land and went to Egypt. Instead of trusting the Lord with all his heart, he leaned on his own understanding and almost led his family into utter ruin. In today's message on Life Lessons, "Digging Wells", Pastor Steve shares the alternative-- staying put, expecting God to provide and discovering God's "rivers in the desert". If you're tempted to take matters into your own hands, this is an important message for you.

Building an Altar -- Pt 2
11/5/2008 - Wednesday
A moving ship is easy to steer. That's how it is with our faith-- sometimes we have to make a move and take that first blind step before we can be "steered" to the next one and before the rest of God's plan will become apparent. Today on Life Lessons, Pastor Steve tells a personal story of how this played out in his own life, a story that is sure to encourage you to walk a faith-filled life.
