LISTEN TO TODAY'S BROADCAST
The Paralysis of Stagnation Part 1
Monday, October 26, 2009
Today we return to our teaching series on significant and biblically authentic service in the church. How effective and efficient is your church? No, not in a business or financial sense, but rather in a ministry sense. On Hope For Today, Riverside teaching pastor Jim Shaddix turns to both Exodus chapter 18 and Acts chapter 6 as he moves to the 2nd partition of the "Who Me...A Priest?" series. Join us as Jim begins the message "The Paralysis of Stagnation", and looks at situations in the church that can develop when it loses its momentum and effectiveness in ministry.

Along with the coarsening of the culture, comes the coarsening of everyday speech and communication. And, as you've probably already assumed, it's also finding its way into the church to a degree. On this edition of Hope for Today, Pastor Dennis Blythe defines the problem. But he also reminds New Testament Christians who might struggle with this issue, that they have a measuring stick of righteousness in dealing with the problem; the Lord Jesus Christ. Thanks for joining us today here on Hope for Today.

Series: Sin That's Hard To Shake

Our struggle with the many facets of sin seems to know no limits. But is there a particular part of this problem more troubling or costly than that of ungodly speech? The foundational text of today's message speaks to this problem in a universal way; one that nobody would or could refute. On our program today, Riverside Leadership Pastor Dennis Blythe looks at a myriad or problems that can be brought about by what comes out of our mouths. Join us as he begins "Shaking the Sin of Ungodly Speech".

The 50's movie The Blob is a great metaphor for sin. Just like the strange and slimy matter in the movie, sin seems to become part of us, and cannot be easily removed. In fact, every believer's lament is drawn from today's text, when Paul says, "I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate." Join us here on Hope for Today as Riverside Leadership Pastor Dennis Blythe continues his introductory message "Sin That's Hard To Shake".

Sin That's Hard To Shake Part 1
11/19/2009 - Thursday
There are many metaphors for sin. Sin has been likened to things like an undertow or quicksand, in that it is so very difficult to escape from. As we've been promoting the past few days, Riverside's Leadership Pastor Dennis Blythe begins a brief series he calls "Sin That's Hard To Shake". In this first segment, Dennis speaks of the universal component of sin; the fact that it impacts believers and non-believers alike. Thank you for joining us here on Hope for Today.

Thank you for joining us on this edition of Hope For Today! Today, we conclude the final message of the "Who Me...A Priest?" series; a sequence of messages devoted to our calling to serve the Lord as the redeemed in Christ. This particular message is called "The Aim of Christ's Character", and speaks to the believer's deliberate conversion into the image of Christ. Teaching pastor Jim Shaddix asks the question, "How do we measure this spiritual transformation?". Please join us as he specifically references Ephesians 4:13 to answer this question.

On Hope For Today, teaching pastor Jim Shaddix of the Riverside Baptist Church in Denver, begins the final message in his series entitled "Who Me...A Priest?". Again, the intent of this series is to help us all understand the service we are called to as the redeemed in Christ. In the past several broadcasts, we've been looking at the ability that Christ confers on us to be in His service. Today, Jim looks at "The Aim of Christ's Character".

One of the most effective ways to get someone to understand the potential or need for change in their life, is the infamous "before and after" picture. The apostle Paul knew this and made a point of painting a verbal before and after picture for the believers in Ephesus. Please join us as Pastor Jim Shaddix concludes the message "The Ability That Christ Confers", and explores Ephesians chapters two and four, in order to better understand our "spiritual before and after".

The name of the message is "The Ability That Christ Confers". The title describes the process by which Christ deliberately changes or converts believers into His image. Riverside senior pastor Jim Shaddix again refers to Ephesians, chapter 4, verses 7 through 10 to better understand the ability that Christ confers on us; the ability to serve Him, to worship Him, and to lead others to do the same. Thanks for joining us here at Hope For Today on OnePlace.

Thank you for joining us on this edition of Hope For Today. Continuing with the apostle Paul's theme of unity found in Ephesians chapter 4, Riverside senior pastor Dr. Jim Shaddix investigates how this unity is brought about in the person of Jesus Christ. Please join us as he concludes the message "The Appeal for Consistent Conduct".

Thank you for joining us today as we return to our current message called "The Appeal for Consistent Conduct". As we continue this series, teaching pastor Jim Shaddix resumes his study out of Ephesians chapter 4, as he furthers our understanding of our intentional transformation into the spiritual image of Christ; a transformation that drives our conduct in God's mission. Again, thanks for joining us here at Hope For Today on OnePlace!

The evangelical church of today is to be on mission for Christ. Period. And, if our personal ministry through Christ brings that mission about, doesn't it make sense that we collectively need to be on the same page doctrinally? On this edition of Hope For Today, teaching pastor Jim Shaddix continues the message "The Appeal for Consistent Conduct", and underscores the source of our unity in doctrine; that is, the unity we have through the Holy Spirit.

Believe it or not, there are religious institutions today that say “It doesn't matter so much in what we believe...just so we're unified in believing it." While that notion is somewhat absurd, it does reflect on the importance of unity within a church or people group. On Hope For Today, Riverside senior pastor Dr. Jim Shaddix resumes his message entitled "The Appeal for Consistent Conduct", and continues to address the importance of unity within the body of Christ regarding the doctrine of Christ.

Picture this. A football team takes the field with each player having a different vision of how the game plan should be executed, and how the game can be won. What's missing here? The unity of mind and mission that any group of people must have to achieve a particular goal. On Hope For Today, teaching pastor Jim Shaddix continues in Ephesians chapter 4, as he explains the Apostle Paul's insistence for unity among the early Christian believers. Please join us as Jim continues the message "The Appeal for Consistent Conduct".

Today we continue with our study in Ephesians chapter 4, and with our message entitled "The Appeal for Consistent Conduct". As we learned earlier, a major emphasis of Paul's letter to the churches in and around Ephesus was that of unity; a mindset that contradicted the multi-ethnic and pluralistic religious setting of the day. On Hope For Today, featured speaker Pastor Jim Shaddix begins by underscoring the function and purpose of the Bible, so that we may better understand God's agenda of transforming us into the image of Christ.

The theme established by the apostle Paul early in the book of Ephesians, was that of unity and power for those Gentiles who were coming under the lordship of Jesus Christ. On Hope For Today, Riverside teaching pastor Jim Shaddix examines chapters one and two of Ephesians as he continues the message "The Appeal for Consistent Conduct", and plainly makes the case for the application of these attributes to the New Testament church of today.

Series: Who Me...A Priest?

Today we begin the 3rd partition of Dr. Shaddix' series entitled "Who Me...A Priest?"; a series devoted to our understanding of the priesthood we belong to as the redeemed in Christ. Partitions one and two dealt with the calling to, and the organization of our priesthood. On this edition of Hope For Today, we turn to the book of Ephesians, as Jim begins the 3rd aspect of this series with a message entitled "The Appeal for Consistent Conduct".

The mission of the contemporary church can be expressed in two primary elements; the preaching and teaching of God's word, and the meeting of needs of people both inside and outside the church. On this edition of Hope For Today, teaching pastor Jim Shaddix concludes the message entitled "The Plan for Mobilization". Please join us as Jim presents two challenges to the church that directly impact its ability to plan for, and execute "effective" mobilization.

Series: Who Me...A Priest?

Using both Exodus chapter 18 and Acts chapter 6, Riverside senior pastor Jim Shaddix begins the next message in this series on effective servant hood; a message entitled "The Plan for Mobilization". As we discovered earlier this week, these two passages have a striking similarity in that they both depict God's people understanding and reacting to the changing culture around them. Please join us here at Hope For Today on OnePlace as Jim parallels this same need for the contemporary church; specifically the value in preaching and teaching God's word.

An old Irish proverb says "Many hands make light work"; a reference to a job or goal more easily accomplished through the involvement of many. On Hope For Today, teaching pastor Jim Shaddix continues his message entitled "The Priorities for Evaluation", and looks at the need for properly managing the ministry efforts of the church. Specifically, Jim looks at the issues of frustration and burn out that can occur when too many ministries are supported by too few people.

Series: Who Me...A Priest?

Over the past month or so, we've been hearing a series entitled "Who Me.....A Priest?". The first portion of the series focused on improving our understanding of the fact that all who are redeemed in Christ, are called to a priesthood of service to the Lord. The second partition of the series deals with the "effective mobilization" of believers ministering to the lost world around us. Please join us here at Hope For Today, as featured speaker Jim Shaddix continues this series with a message entitled "The Priorities for Evaluation".
