The Appeal for Consistent Conduct Part 4
Friday, November 06, 2009
Picture this. A football team takes the field with each player having a different vision of how the game plan should be executed, and how the game can be won. What's missing here? The unity of mind and mission that any group of people must have to achieve a particular goal. On Hope For Today, teaching pastor Jim Shaddix continues in Ephesians chapter 4, as he explains the Apostle Paul's insistence for unity among the early Christian believers. Please join us as Jim continues the message "The Appeal for Consistent Conduct".

Today we continue with our study in Ephesians chapter 4, and with our message entitled "The Appeal for Consistent Conduct". As we learned earlier, a major emphasis of Paul's letter to the churches in and around Ephesus was that of unity; a mindset that contradicted the multi-ethnic and pluralistic religious setting of the day. On Hope For Today, featured speaker Pastor Jim Shaddix begins by underscoring the function and purpose of the Bible, so that we may better understand God's agenda of transforming us into the image of Christ.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
The theme established by the apostle Paul early in the book of Ephesians, was that of unity and power for those Gentiles who were coming under the lordship of Jesus Christ. On Hope For Today, Riverside teaching pastor Jim Shaddix examines chapters one and two of Ephesians as he continues the message "The Appeal for Consistent Conduct", and plainly makes the case for the application of these attributes to the New Testament church of today.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
Today we begin the 3rd partition of Dr. Shaddix' series entitled "Who Me...A Priest?"; a series devoted to our understanding of the priesthood we belong to as the redeemed in Christ. Partitions one and two dealt with the calling to, and the organization of our priesthood. On this edition of Hope For Today, we turn to the book of Ephesians, as Jim begins the 3rd aspect of this series with a message entitled "The Appeal for Consistent Conduct".
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
The mission of the contemporary church can be expressed in two primary elements; the preaching and teaching of God's word, and the meeting of needs of people both inside and outside the church. On this edition of Hope For Today, teaching pastor Jim Shaddix concludes the message entitled "The Plan for Mobilization". Please join us as Jim presents two challenges to the church that directly impact its ability to plan for, and execute "effective" mobilization.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
Using both Exodus chapter 18 and Acts chapter 6, Riverside senior pastor Jim Shaddix begins the next message in this series on effective servant hood; a message entitled "The Plan for Mobilization". As we discovered earlier this week, these two passages have a striking similarity in that they both depict God's people understanding and reacting to the changing culture around them. Please join us here at Hope For Today on OnePlace as Jim parallels this same need for the contemporary church; specifically the value in preaching and teaching God's word.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
An old Irish proverb says "Many hands make light work"; a reference to a job or goal more easily accomplished through the involvement of many. On Hope For Today, teaching pastor Jim Shaddix continues his message entitled "The Priorities for Evaluation", and looks at the need for properly managing the ministry efforts of the church. Specifically, Jim looks at the issues of frustration and burn out that can occur when too many ministries are supported by too few people.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
Over the past month or so, we've been hearing a series entitled "Who Me.....A Priest?". The first portion of the series focused on improving our understanding of the fact that all who are redeemed in Christ, are called to a priesthood of service to the Lord. The second partition of the series deals with the "effective mobilization" of believers ministering to the lost world around us. Please join us here at Hope For Today, as featured speaker Jim Shaddix continues this series with a message entitled "The Priorities for Evaluation".
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
Performing ministry today is not the same as it was in 1970. Churches that ignore this fact can, and do, find themselves in a state of stagnation. As he continues the message "The Paralysis of Stagnation", Riverside senior pastor Jim Shaddix refers to both Exodus 18 and Acts chapter 6; two biblical examples of believers understanding and responding to the changing world around them. Thanks for joining us here at Hope For Today on OnePlace.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
Today we return to our teaching series on significant and biblically authentic service in the church. How effective and efficient is your church? No, not in a business or financial sense, but rather in a ministry sense. On Hope For Today, Riverside teaching pastor Jim Shaddix turns to both Exodus chapter 18 and Acts chapter 6 as he moves to the 2nd partition of the "Who Me...A Priest?" series. Join us as Jim begins the message "The Paralysis of Stagnation", and looks at situations in the church that can develop when it loses its momentum and effectiveness in ministry.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
Once again, we return to 1 Peter, chapter 2, as Riverside teaching pastor Jim Shaddix, concludes his current message "The Blessings We Have". Throughout this series thus far, we've been talking about the service believers give back to the Lord, and how that service does not or should not come out of compulsion or dictate, but rather be a true motivation. Please join us here on Hope For Today, as Jim identifies the sources of that motivation.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
If you've been listening for the past two weeks or so, you know we're examining the unique facets of the service rendered back to the Lord by followers of Jesus Christ. One of those facets is our motivation. On this edition of Hope For Today, Riverside senior pastor Jim Shaddix continues to look at what motivates believers to be more than spectators in their churches, and to get onto the playing field of ministry. Join us as Jim resumes the message "The Blessings We Have".
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
On our program today, Riverside teaching pastor Jim Shaddix, continues his analysis of 1 Peter, chapter 2; the scriptural basis for his message entitled "The Blessings We Have". Please join us here on Hope For Today as Jim moves on to verses 9 and 10 and examines them for what he calls our ongoing motivation to "stay in the game"; serving the Lord Jesus Christ even when it hurts.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
Earlier we talked about people diagnosed with cancer, who become angry with their doctor because of his or her diagnosis, and the reality of their situation. A bit far fetched you say, and yet, this same mindset can be, and is present when people are confronted with their lostness. On Hope For Today, featured speaker Jim Shaddix concludes the 4th message in this series on Christian service within the church; a message entitled "The Offerings We Give". Join us as he examines 1 Peter, chapter 2, as a reference for understanding this unfortunate mindset of today.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
This ministry has always maintained that there are really only two races in the world; the fallen race of Adam, and the race of those redeemed in Jesus Christ. On this edition of Hope For Today, Riverside teaching pastor Jim Shaddix turns to I Peter, chapter 2, as he continues our current message "The Offerings We Give". While the scriptural text for this message talks about those who are chosen by God, it also addresses those who risk separation from God through their disbelief, as well as the consequences in rejecting Christ.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
Yesterday we talked about the "ways" we serve the Lord Jesus Christ. Today we talk about the "whys". In our pluralistic culture, many cling to the notion that there are many paths to eternity with God. On this edition of Hope For Today, Riverside teaching pastor Jim Shaddix, resumes the message "The Offerings We Give", and plainly speaks to the false sense of security that tolerance and pluralism brings to those who embrace these concepts.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
As we begin the next message of our series entitled "Who Me...A Priest?", we're aware that this title may catch some off guard. After all, isn't the position of priest reserved for the clergy or professional ministers only? On Hope For Today, Pastor Jim Shaddix of the Riverside church in Denver, begins the next message in the series; a message entitled "The Offerings We Give". Please join us as Jim addresses the offerings or service we give to the Lord as believers, but more importantly, our motives in doing so.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
Once again, we refer to the title of our current series "Who Me...A Priest?" Perhaps this title has really captured your attention and you're wondering, "What is the biblical basis for the redeemed in Christ to be priests in His service?" On Hope For Today, featured speaker Jim Shaddix turns to both the Old and New Testaments to illustrate the principle of our ministry to the Lord as priests. Join us as Jim concludes the message "The Service We Offer".
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
Our current series is called "Who Me...A Priest". So far, we've learned that all who are redeemed in Christ, are also called to be priests in His service. It is not who we are or what we've done that makes this so, but rather the identity we have in Christ. On Hope For Today, Riverside teaching pastor Jim Shaddix continues the series with the 2nd half of the message "The Service We Offer", as he examines the service we offer back to the Lord.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
Many believers today find themselves as spectators in their church instead of actively serving God in any number of ways. Some are perfectly happy with this situation. Others assume that previous issues in their lives somehow prevent them from really participating in the life of the church. On Hope For Today, Pastor Jim Shaddix continues the message "The Service We Offer", and challenges this kind of thinking so that all may know and understand how we are called to be priests in our service to Jesus Christ.
Series: Who Me...A Priest?
The old saying goes "You can't tell a book by its cover!" Simply meaning that what is on the outside of the book doesn't always convey what is on the inside. Continuing in his current series "Who Me...A Priest?", Riverside teaching pastor Jim Shaddix begins the next message in the series entitled "The Service We Offer". Referencing 1 Peter, chapter 2, Jim examines the things we have to offer the Lord, regardless of how we see ourselves and our struggles.
