On this Friday edition of Hope For Today, featured speaker Dr. Jim Shaddix concludes the message "He Is Enough for Our Truth". The text for the message is the 2nd chapter of Colossians, verses 8 through 23 in which Paul directly confronts those whose false teaching was tearing up the church at Colossae. The title of the message is "He Is Enough for Our Truth". The scriptural text for the message is Colossians, chapter 2, verses 8 through 23. The context of the message is Paul's direct confrontation of those who were teaching heresy among the believers in Colossae. Please join us on Hope For Today as featured speaker Jim Shaddix examines the dangers found in the text; the danger of theological speculation, the danger of forgetting our foundation in Christ, and the danger of improper application.
On our program today, we move on to the 2nd chapter of Colossians to observe the apostle Paul going head to head with the heretics who were undermining the Christian church. Featured speaker Jim Shaddix begins part one of the message "He Is Enough for Our Truth"; a message derived from verses 8 thru 23 of chapter two. Please join us on Hope For Today as Jim examines Paul's warnings to the Colossian church of the dangers in theological speculation.
The proclamation of God's word, and prayer according to God's word, come together to bring about Christ-likeness in the lives of individuals. On Hope For Today, featured speaker Jim Shaddix concludes the message "He Is Enough for Our Ministries", and looks at how these two ministries are emphasized both in Paul's day, as well as today.
Thank you for joining us here on Hope For Today. The word ministries can be applied to a wide spectrum of activities of both individuals and the church. In the first chapter of Paul's letter to the Colossians, he focused on two specific ministries; the proclamation of God's word, and prayer according to God's word. Riverside senior pastor Jim Shaddix begins the message "He Is Enough for Our Ministries", and focuses on the reason behind Paul's emphasis on these ministries.
On Hope For Today, senior teaching pastor Jim Shaddix concludes the message "He Is Enough for Our God". As we've learned throughout this week, the young Christian church was plagued with gnosticism and other false teachings. So much so that the apostle Paul wrote what we know today as the book of Colossians in order to counteract these teachings, and to reassure the early church of Christ's sufficiency. Stay with us as Jim closes this message with the reason for, and the result of Christ's existence.
The pluralistic thinking in our culture today allows Jesus Christ to be placed on the same shelf as Buddha, the Dahli Lama, and angel worship. Is this just a post-modern anomaly or does it have first century roots? On Hope For Today, Riverside pastor Jim Shaddix, resumes his look at the credentials of Jesus Christ as noted by the apostle Paul in the book of Colossians; credentials meant to counter and correct the false teachings that were running rampant in the city of Colossae. Please join us here on OnePlace as Jim continues the message "He Is Enough for Our God".
As we learned yesterday, there was a very distinct heresy going around the Asia Minor town of Colossae. In fact, Colossae may have been the first documented example of synchretism or "salad bar Christianity"; that is, the picking and choosing of doctrine to fit ones own personal likes, and ignoring the rest. On Hope For Today, featured speaker Jim Shaddix begins the next message in his Colossians study; a message entitled "He Is Enough For Our God". Join us as Jim examines Colossians chapter one for the credentials of Jesus, in order to plainly expose the false teachings of Paul's day, as well as those of our own time.
Once again, we begin another of Dr. Shaddix' seminary series; this one from the book of Colossians. The series is entitled "He Is Enough: The Sufficiency of Christ in Colossians", and is based on the apostle Paul's 3rd letter written from a Roman prison cell. Paul wrote this letter in response to reports of false teachers in Colossae who were misleading believers by telling them the Christian faith was incomplete, and that completeness only could be attained through the worship of angels, and by observing special rules and ceremonies.
Last week, we went deeper into Philippians chapter 3, to take a closer look at another of Paul's athletic metaphors, the foot race. In a message he calls "The Amazing (G)race", teaching pastor Jim Shaddix explains the tie between that race and living the Christian life. Join us today as he looks at the legalistic and worldly opposition we can sometimes come against while running this life-long race.
There's the way of life known as "the rat race", and then there's the race that is really worth the running. All too often, there are some Christians who set out for one race, and find themselves caught up in the other. Do you know which is which? As he continues his message "The Amazing (G)race", Hope For Today teaching pastor Jim Shaddix further examines Paul's amazing metaphor in today's text; an allegory for living the Christian life.
We all know the fundamentals of athletic competition in which many participate, but only one wins. Paul made reference to this in I Corinthians when he said, "all run the race, but only one receives the prize." Paul also shared that same mindset with the Philippians. If you were with us yesterday, you know that the race he refers to is living the Christian life. On this edition of Hope For Today, featured speaker Jim Shaddix focuses on running that race with intensity, passion, commitment, surrender, and pursuit, but also the resources to run that race with the resurrection power of Jesus Christ.
Today, we'll resume our study in the book of Philippians. As noted in his opening comments, teaching pastor Jim Shaddix makes some observations about the recent election in the U.S., and compares the election process to the way we pursue Christianity. Today Jim looks at the Apostle Paul's figurative race that is a metaphor for how we are to live the Christian life. Join us as he begins the message "The Amazing (G)race", and details the prize in the race, the pursuit of that prize, and the power to run the race itself.
Yesterday, we listened in on teaching pastor Jim Shaddix' message to the Colorado Baptist Convention; a message that spoke of the issues and challenges in church leadership, that can cause discouragement in churches of all shapes and sizes. Today, we continue that message as Jim references a promise, and a Power found in today's biblical text; both of which are bound in the process we know as prayer. Please join us as he underscores the absolute need for church leadership to put prayer back on the main burner, so that in time such as these, the power of God can be released, and He can be glorified.
Before moving on to the next segment of our study in Philippians, we'll take a few days to share Pastor Shaddix' recent message to the Colorado Baptist Convention.
A fundamental lesson learned early in life is that things can and do happen to us that are profoundly negative; things that can dishearten and discourage us, things we haven't signed up for. Within the realm of church leadership and ministry, these situations are of particular concern. Whatever role you serve in within the evangelical church, today's message is sure to be of interest. Thank you for joining us here at Hope For Today on OnePlace.

On this Friday edition of Hope For Today, we continue our very detailed study of the first eleven verses of Philippians chapter three. This message, "Christ Over Credentials", is all about what does and what doesn't make us right with God. At this point, teaching pastor Jim Shaddix is looking at three unique aspects of righteousness. Join us here on OnePlace as Jim speaks on positional righteousness, practical righteousness, and perfected righteousness.
Many of our listeners, especially those in the United States, have seen the commercial that asks the question "Got Milk?" In conjunction with this series of messages aimed at getting right with God, featured speaker Jim Shaddix asks the question "Got Jesus?". On this edition of Hope For Today, Jim teaches on the three steps to salvation...justification, sanctification, and glorification. All three are addressed by the apostle Paul in today's text, and all three are a necessity for responding "yes" to the question "Got Jesus?". Join us as Jim continues the message "Christ Over Credentials".
In the simplest of terms regarding the worldwide economic crisis, assets that used to be in the "gain column" are now in the "loss column". Can we apply that same mindset to being right with God? On this edition of Hope For Today, Pastor Jim Shaddix continues his message "Christ Over Credentials", and through the use of a monetary analogy, makes a great comparison to spiritual gains and losses. They may not be what you think! Please listen in as he explains.
In his evangelism training program known as "Evangelism Explosion", the late Dr. D. James Kennedy asked two diagnostic questions: "If you died tonight, do you know that you'd go to heaven?", and "If you stood before God, and He asked, 'Why should I let you into My Heaven?', what would you say?". As you might expect, the answers to those questions fill quite a spectrum of both right and wrong thinking about righteousness with God. On our program today, teaching pastor Jim Shaddix focuses on the bad assumptions regarding our righteousness as he continues the message "Christ Over Credentials".
Last week, teaching pastor Jim Shaddix discussed the most fundamental problem with the salvation by works mindset; the fact that there will always be someone who has accomplished more, and that the dividing line of "success" could easily fall between you and that person. Today, he turns to another pitfall in our seeking God's righteousness; the issue of legalism. Join us as he resumes the message "Christ Over Credentials", and thanks for meeting us here each and every day at Hope For Today on OnePlace.
