Every believer has been called to be a part of the discipling movement. Our calling is "making fully committed disciples," (Matthew 28:20) and everyone has a part to play in that. One of the most important parts of discipleship is pouring into another person’s life! Without doing that we are only one generation away from ending discipleship.

Fully engaged! Passionate warriors! Extra-effort servants! Fearless followers! Those are all phrases to describe the early church. Passivity and apathy were nowhere to be found. Their's was not a come-and-sit mentality but a go-and-serve attitude. It's an authentic discipleship that engages everything for the sake of the cause.

The times demand fully-engaged disciples to use their gifts, talents and abilities for the cause. That engagement means servanthood, resisting apathy and passivity. In a consumer-based society that says, "Serve me," a fully committed disciple says, "Where can I serve?"

The greater the challenges, the more important it is to stay connected. It's incredibly risky to attempt to fly solo. God created us as relational beings. Those statements speak of the necessity of doing life together. Life on life becomes the fuel for a healthy growing disciple. In spite of this, most believers find that doing life together is like riding uphill against the wind - challenging and at times even discouraging. Moving toward people, rather than against or away from them, is essential for our basic survival.

Living connected to others is absolutely critical for one's spiritual growth. God designed us to give and receive grace by being connected. Yet, in an age of independence, overload and self-centeredness, more and more believers are practicing disconnect rather than connect. Moving toward connecting enhances our spiritual health and positions us to be well prepared for tomorrow's curve balls.

In 2 Timothy Paul lays out a clear game plan to develop strength under fire, and it all starts in the spirit. Life's toughest challenges are inevitable - inner strength, the strength of the spirit, is imperative.

Maintaining our spiritual disciplines is key to keeping the train on the tracks. Spiritual casualties don't need to happen! It's possible for us to have a growing dynamic walk with the Lord. As we chase after God’s best we build default behaviors into our lives that help us keep the train on the tracks.

Becoming a fully committed disciple is far more than just a simple decision to follow Christ. It's about following, walking and growing in Him and those things don't just happen.
