Changing Lanes

Making the change that will last for eternity
Change is something that we all want. But even when we discover the path toward change, it doesn't mean we always take the path. Sometimes, many times, we choose to stay on our own course. But that can be a dangerous and deadly course that, according to the Bible, leads to destruction. In this message, Ed Young reveals some frightening facts about our own course toward change. And we discover that if we hope to make change that will last for eternity, we have to acknowledge the signs and determine that the time is now for changing lanes.

Bad Hair Day
11/15/2009 - Sunday
Pride is one of the most sinister forces we can face. It can take hold of our lives, lead us down a dangerous path and entangle us in a snare of lies and deception. And in the life of Absalom, David's son, pride ultimately led to his destruction. But there's a way to avoid that fate in our own lives. And as Ed Young shows us in this message, if we can keep our ego in check we will avoid the trap. Instead, we'll continue heading down the path God has for us. And we'll experience the most out of life.

OMLWSWD?
11/8/2009 - Sunday
Oh my Lord what shall we do?
The servant stood on the wall and surveyed the landscape. Everywhere he turned, the enemy was bearing down. In his eyes, defeat was imminent. How often do we find ourselves in that situation? When we take a panoramic view of our surroundings, we assume the only thing that awaits us is destruction. Yet, when we send the same message of Elisha's servant, God will give us the clarity and vision to see his strength. And he will help us overcome any situation we face.

What Goes Around
11/1/2009 - Sunday
Reaping what you sew
The Bible is peppered with stories of lesser known people. But those stories are much more than filler text. They are full of lessons for us today. In this message, Ed Young looks at a character named Adoni-Bezek. And as Ed unveils this story found in Judges, we see that what we do through our words and actions, good or bad, often determines what we experience in our lives.

Doeg
10/25/2009 - Sunday
The devastation of slander
King David is one of the most well-known personalities in all of Scripture. Yet, in the middle of his life, he had an encounter with a little known character that nearly cost him everything. In this message, Ed Young reflects on the encounter that David had with Doeg. He shows us how damaging Doeg's use of slander was. And we discover what it takes to avoid the destruction caused by slander and instead experience a life of integrity.

Keep the Change
10/18/2009 - Sunday
Making Jesus the center of your life
When it comes to change, it's great to start the process. It's vital that we connect with the true change agent, Jesus Christ, and begin to walk down the path he leads. And we must understand that along with change comes conflict; and when we work through the conflict, we experience amazing growth. But what's next? How can we hope to maintain the changes we make as life moves forward? In this message, Ed Young reveals some very practical steps we need to take if we hope to keep the change. Because when it comes to the process that is change, we must continue building on the foundation Christ has laid before us.

Walking the Path
10/4/2009 - Sunday
Successfully navigating the path toward change
Change. It's something that every one of us wants. And it's that desire for change that sets us on a course to alter what we can. But so often, our course built on self-reliance leads us directly away from where we intended to go. We end up not really changing anything while at the same time trying desperately to change everything. In this message, Ed Young unpacks two of the most repeated verses in Scripture, Proverbs 3:5-6. And as we discover how our outlook ultimately determines our outcomes, we see that following the one true Guide is the only thing that will help us successfully navigate the path toward change.

Ever Mind
9/27/2009 - Sunday
Working through the obstacles of change
When it comes to change, we want an easy formula; a 1-2-3, A-B-C type procedure that results in life transformation. But meaningful change is never that easy. There is no step-by-step process, because it's not an overnight deal. Change requires much more. And there are some barriers in our way that we must face and ultimately overcome. In this message, Ed Young reveals some of those obstacles of change. And he shows us that if we truly want to change; if we really want to overcome the barriers, we must be willing to change more than our behaviors. Because true change begins when our thinking, not just our behavior, changes.

Taking Hold
9/20/2009 - Sunday
Letting go of what we're holding on to and taking hold of Jesus
We all want to change something in our lives. But no matter what it is, actually changing is never an easy thing to do. So often, we are held back from making lasting change because of our circumstances, our past, or the times we've messed up. But if we truly want to change, we need to begin letting go of some of those things. In this message, Ed Young looks at an encounter between Jesus and a woman who desperately wanted to change. And through their interaction, we learn that lasting change comes when we finally let go of some things and begin taking hold of Jesus.

Making Change
9/13/2009 - Sunday
Only God can make change
Everyone has something in their life that they would like to change. When it comes to change, we have an easy time identifying and wanting it. But making it happen is something else entirely. Simply put, we can’t change. Not on our own at least. We need help, direction and hope if we’re going to really make change in our lives. In this message, Ed Young directs us to the true source and catalyst of change. And we see that by tapping into that source, we can develop the ability to begin making change that will last.

Is It In You
9/6/2009 - Sunday
Enthusiasm is the expression of a passionate relationship with Christ. Without it, our Christian witness is like decaffeinated and bitter espresso. In 2 Corinthians 9, the Apostle Paul gives us a java jolt about the power of enthusiasm to move the heart of God and impact the lives of others.
