Dear Friends,
Have you ever wondered what God would say about you? In this week’s reading we see the Lord testifying about Job. It is amazing to read what Almighty God says to Satan about His faithful servant. Hast thou considered my servant Job . . . a perfect and an upright man, one that . . . escheweth evil? (1:8). It would be great if He could say that about you and me.
But Satan makes it his priority to see Job stumble. He told God, put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse Thee to Thy face (1:11). God allowed Satan a free hand except He did not allow him to touch Job’s person.
After Satan destroyed all Job’s possessions and killed his children, Satan again appeared before God. God said to him still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedest Me against him,to destroy him without cause (2:3).
God then allowed Satan to attack Job with very painful boils. We read this week of the great suffering Job endured. But he maintains his loyalty to Him. What if God wanted you to prove your loyalty to Him even through pain and suffering? The Holy Spirit gives us His strength so we too could prove faithful. These things are written for our learning and encouragement.
Even when it is hard, the Lord calls us to be faithful to Him.
