Dear Friends,
As we read this week about Nehemiah, we see a man who is sensitive to doing the will of God. He also is a man of great compassion.
Although the Lord has put him in a position of great trust, He does not think of this position of cup bearer to the king as something to cling to. He thinks of his people and their discouraging circumstances.
He bravely asks the king for a very special favor—leaving his position of trust to return to Judah and help rebuild the ruins there. What a remarkable example he is. God uses Nehemiah who shows real courage as he faces danger and opposition. But God is faithful to His servant who overcomes apathy and compromise in his own countrymen and leads them to build up the walls of Jerusalem. Surprisingly they complete this great work using unskilled people in a relatively short period of time.
The end result is that God gets the glory for what He has done. As you read about Nehemiah, look for your own place of service to the Lord. May we all be faithful to listen to the Holy Spirit as He opens doors of opportunity to each of us this week.
