False Gods
Dr. Randy White

“You see and hear that not only in Ephesus, but in almost all of Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away a considerable number of people, saying that gods made with hands are no gods at all.” (Acts 19:26)

In Ephesus there was a silversmith named Demetrius who made a handsome profit making and selling personal idols. Paul was bad for his business! Demetrius said to his fellow idol-makers, “our prosperity depends on this business” (v. 25).  With this declaration, he revealed his true god: money!

In modern America, many proprietors are peddling fake gods, even in the name of Christianity. Christian bookstores refuse to take heretical books off their shelves if the books are bestsellers. They might put a warning or a disclaimer, they might even say they disagree with the book, but they continue to sell it, making their prophet off the sale of a fake god.

It is time for discernment in the body of Christ!
